Having the chance to surf in a small group on a very spacious beach is so special and it helped me a lot with improving my skills in this amazing sport.||||I stayed at Marias Hostel & Surf to improve my surf skills and to make new friends, and it was the perfect place to do both! The Hostel is very close to Praia Furadouro, a long stretch of sandy beach with waves for different surf levels, close to nature. There are restaurants, bars and shops within 2 minutes walk. Furadouro is a part of Ovar, a nearby city which has lovely architecture and a characteristic Portuguese feel to it.||||The Hostel itself has a great layout for having privacy but also to be able to socialise with others - some days we cooked and ate together, some days I did yoga in the living room or just chilled in the hammock on the balcony. There are also big tables both indoors and on the patio which allowed me to work from my computer without distractions. The place is stylishly decorated. The daily breakfast is substantial, we had sweet and savoury food as well as fruits and coffee.||||The surf instructors and hosts, Bruno and Henrique were amazing. They are very knowledgeable but laid back at the same time, which grants you to have a great experience and accomplishment in the ocean. They paid attention to the guests' requests and individual levels and made sure to teach every one of us something new. I'll be back at the earliest opportunity - this time it will feel like returning...
Read moreI stayed 10 days at Marias Hostel and Surf and I highly recomment you to go there. It was the best hostel I've ever stayed in. With it's cozy interior design and specialties as the hammock with seaview it's beautiful. Furthermore is the hostel very clean and the beds are super comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped and also super clean. In the morning you even get a tasty and varied breakfast. The hostel is 50m away from the beach and 100m away from a little beach promenade. At the promenade you have possibilities to shop (even grocerys), eat and drink. It is perfectly located. Bruno (the host) also gives surf lessons, which are much fun and he concentrates fully on his students. Bruno and his family are welcoming, friendly and they give you the feeling as if you are home. Bruno is always there for you, if you need some recommendations on what to do next. One time he took the time out of his busy schedule to grill some traditional fish and made us some caipis. Alltogether it is a beautiful hostel with a warming and welcoming host. Go there for your holidays. You will not regret it. I had one of the best holidays ever there and we want to come back....
Read moreI love sleeping in Hostels/b&b etc while traveling, but Marias Hostel and surf was defenitely the most beautiful i've ever been. The interior is very modern and cosy and we did not miss anything there. Absolutely everything in the house is perfectly clean and we loved to relax on the nice terrace or in the hammock with ocean view ;) The breakfast Bruno serves is very delicious and diversified. Bruno himself is like the best Host we could have ever imagined. He and his family are very lovely people, they are always there if you need any help, tips or anything else. I've never met a Host that puts so much heart and effort in his Hostel. Everything felt very familiar and Bruno and his Wife really made us feel at home. On top of that he is an excellent surf teacher and we had lots of fun in our lessons. We will never forget this 10 days in such a wonderful place and we would definitely love to come back as soon...
