I spent 1 night (August 4/5, 2018) in room “D.Teresa” at Old Village Hostel. The room was a family room, with private bathroom, I used it in single occupancy – I wanted a room with balcony, since I am a smoker. The room was large, the furniture very basic. It did have a ventilator and towels in the bathroom but not toiletries, not even a plastic glass in the bathroom (but I suppose there were available in the kitchen). There are many signs with interdictions in the room: no food, no drink, not washing clothes in the sink. Guests had access to a common area and a kitchen. The common spaces were nicely decorated. There is no elevator but the reception person helped with my luggage. The breakfast was very basic. However, the price (for the 4 persons’ room and the 4 breakfasts) was only 41 eur and the place is around the corner from the bus station; the Old City Ponte de Lima and the Bridge are about 10-15 min away on food – very convenient. It is the place to stay if you need some clean, convenient and not expensive place for a shower and for sleeping, but not if you look for...

She was on the phone with her boss and all I heard was "Problema". Then I spoke to the boss on the phone; She was overly friendly and didn't tell me there was a problem, just that I should pay quickly now! I felt very ripped off because I paid 30 euros for a bed that actually only costs 15. Unfortunately I couldn't communicate with anyone because the lady downstairs didn't speak English (but it wasn't her fault either - I think she's being very exploited by the owners). There was no chance of contacting the boss. The showers were cold, so after 40km of walking I couldn't even take a shower. It was very, very loud and there was no response to my request. No batteries in the remote control. No...
Read moreFantastic value for money. Far exceeded expectations. Great size room with very comfortable bed. Lovely soft pillows and duvet. A big stack of towels, towelling bathrobe. Staff lovely, and breakfast was a help yourself with bread, pastry, cereal, cheese, ham, fruit, cake and Nespresso coffee maker. Can not fault this place. Spotless too and toiletries in bathrooms. An 8-10 minute walk from the bridge and old town but what do you expect for the price? As value for money goes i can't think of anywhere i've stayed that was half as good...
