My wife, two friends and I stayed here one night on the 6th day of our Camino walk from Porto to Santiago de Compostella. The building is fairly unsightly from the outside, and is dated internally. However, the receptionist (manager?) was very welcoming and knowledgeable and recommended a restaurant for our evening meal which was 100 yards down the street.||The rooms themselves were actually suites, including a sitting room with small TV, bedroom, bathroom and luggage storage area with fridge. There was two a/c units in each suite. Everything was clean, though dated.||There was a swimming pool in the grounds with loungers and plenty of grassy area, however, as it was a Sunday, the pool was inundated with locals who pay a small fee for entry. It was still great to enjoy a couple of hours by the pool after our long walk and we were able to dry our washing on a travel clothes line that I pegged up on a wire fence.||Sleep quality was good, and breakfast was OK. Overall, a very cheap place to stay which is certainly adequate for one night if travelling...
Read moreI stayed :) :) at Hotel Valença Minho one night only in my way to Santiago de Compostela. This was my best decision of the week in regards to accommodation.||I could not believe how friendly the staff were at reception and at bar by the pool. And yes, there is a pool with my acceptable measures where I relaxed for 2h. Not an 50m olympic but large enough in a quiet area with green grass and a small bar with cold beer and lots of free sun beds. Super Bock beer 1.5Eur a bottle. The garage is also safe for bikes and free. The room has some design of the late 90s but in good condition, with TV, ensuited bathroom with jacuzzi bathtub, a large balcony at 3rd floor and wow...a working airco. We paid 50Euros in Sep 2018 with all taxes included. Breakfast is also included in the rate. Probably if you call the hotel directly you can get a better deal. We booked with booking.com but, you can always provide your own review at Tripadvisor and Google and give space to the hotel provide you with a better deal without having to pay 20% commission to...

In reality here is what it's like. Everything was clean - and the staff all appeared to be very helpful and friendly (though someone mentioned they spoke good English, and that wasn't the case at all)
"Buffet breakfast" is a generous term. Coffee & bread rolls and maybe some cornflakes if you're lucky.
The air-conditioning worked in our room, but I have a sneaking suspicion it's long overdue for a filter clean because I woke up feeling pretty bad and immediately felt better when I turned it off and opened the door for clean fresh air.
It's budget, if you need somewhere cheap to stay for one night it'll do. But don't have high expectations it's very run down and under maintained.
Covid-19 measures in place such as bottles of hand sanitizer in communal areas, rooms didn't smell of any kind of disinfectant, so I used my own wipes as an extra precaution.
Overall an adequate place for a quick stop over. Would not recommend if you have...
