Hospedaria Austrália — Hotel in Velas

We arrived at the end of August, when the tourism decrese. We spent 5 days in Sao Jorge, having the possibility to live the island under several aspects. That has been possible also thanks to the family of Hospedaria Australia. Diogo, Miguel and their mom are really nice and helped us to live a full experience. |The rooms are really clean and confortable, the bathroom is new, provided with hairdryer. Every day they change the towels and tidy the room. |The breakfast (included) and the food of the "Pizzaria Australia" is good and cheap.|The price for having a room is quite honest for what they offer.|Our only regret: don't have tried "francesiña", that is said to be like the tradition of Porto...

We stayed at "Hospedaria Australia" just for one night, due to cancellation of our ferry back to Faial but we are absolutely satisfied with our stay! The bathroom is very good and comfort - with nice shower and fine water preasure and water temperature. The room was not so big, but enough for our group of two adults and teen. A lot of blankets for those who is sensetive to cold (like me). Good wifi. Complimentory bottle of water. And the price was very good too! The owner did her best and prepeared for us breakfast at 7.00 instead of 8.00 because of our early check-out, it was such a great thing from her side! 5 min to get to the ferry terminal on foot and pretty pizzeria bar in the evening to have...

The hotel was good and accommodating. We had a problem with the restaurant and breakfast. The breakfast doesn't offer any vegetables or anything healthy in general. The dinner was disappointing. We had two glasses of subpar wine, fresh cheese plate - three small slices - and pizzas which were not tasty at all, probably being frozen before being served. The most overwhelming part was the price (over 50 EUR). This was the most pricy restaurant during our 10-days stat compared to what we ate and also the least delicious.
