Pensiunea Păstrăvul - Transfagarasan — Hotel in Cârțișoara

Pensiunea Pastravul is open only 3 months of the year during the summer months. We have stayed a number of times there en route to visit the very picturesque Balea Lac (Lake) area - one of Romania's most beautiful natural sites. ||||Here are a few important things to know:||- It is very clean and well managed. They do not allow music to be played or smoking inside the facility and insist on people being quiet at night time||- There is no breakfast or meals available. They do have refrigerators that one can use, a nice outdoor eating area with barbeques and sink to wash dishes. Other than the barbeques, there is no possibility to heat food.||They have a vending machine on site. If you are planning eat your own food, make sure to to your shopping in Cartisoara or elsewhere prior to arrival||There are two restaurants reasonably close by (walking distance) - not great but okay - the better is Vama Cucului||- There is a beautiful stream in the back and they have a lovely sitting area with lawn chairs, swings etc. plus a few things for children (small trampoline etc.) If you have children, it is a very nice place to stop||- There can be quite a bit of road noise if you have a room facing the front and leave your window open. We would recommend asking for a room facing the back||- Mattresses are okay but not great||- Staff is very helpful. They even did a load of laundry for us - no charge.||Pastravul fills up quickly with people traveling through. We had a night to spend in the area and no reservation. With most things booked, this place was our only available option that provided family rooms. The place is basic but clean, with generous spaces, large yard by the water with good playing space for kids, a couple of swings, hammocks, chairs, seesaw, trampoline. A fair price for what they offer. No food service whatsoever....

Stayed here for one night without pre-booked room. It's a basic accomodation. The room had a view to the creek behind the building which was great. Some heavy smoking took place inside probably in years before smoking was forbidden inside - the stench is still there. Other than that it was quiet when we were there, but that can change if big...
