West City Hotel — Hotel in Cluj Metropolitan Area

Our original deal included a Castle - like hotel in Turda that looked as if it came out of a fantasy book. That is why we were disappointed when we were told that our hotel was changed to this one, but immediately after arriving on a Saturday afternoon we forgot all about it.|We arrived by car and found a new modern building with plenty of parking available. The staff at the desk were extremely pleasant and efficient|As booked, we got three rooms for three nights. The rooms were next to each other and we completely forgot to ask for it... |The hotel in general and our rooms in particular were very clean, spacious and efficient. There is a safe.|Breakfast (07:00 - 10:30) was tasty and plentiful and you notice that they try to change the ingredients a bit each morning.|The hotel is located at the edge of the city on the opposite side of the Airport and even tough it only took us 30 minutes to drive the distance in rush hour. There is public transportation near by and a taxi ride to the city center is not expensive.|Very close to the hotel at a walking distance is the Vivo mall - a huge shopping center that really has all that you need.|As said before, the service was really superb. The front desk really went out of their way to print our boarding passes and about six other pages that we needed.|At the entrance, above the front desk a big sign says: "Welcome. We came once again to Cluj-napoca and we decided to try the west city hotel, as we like the pictures and heard good things from this hotel. After a 12hour drive we arrived late at night and the girl at the reception was not too keen to welcome us. Overall, the receptionists are not too helpful and not very nice. Usually we did not find anybody at the reception and we had to ring the bell multiple times before somebody showed up. When we asked to call us a taxi, it took half hour before they could reach the taxi-company of their choice (and there are many in Cluj). The room is OK, furnished with all the cheapest materials you can find, but ok to sleep. The breakfast was the only good thing in this hotel. When visiting Cluj, there are much better (and cheaper) hotels to find. We would still recommend...

I stayed here for seven days. As a visitor, some of the staff was nice but the ones that weren't were extremely rude and when this was bought to the attention of the front desk who asked "how was your stay here" she simple replied "that's just they way they are". The taxi service they used were abusive. The hotel maid never cleaned our room. The WiFi was horrible and spotty. The hallways were always dark although the hotel was full. The restaurant staff was extremely nice and that was the nicest part of our stay. The experience here contributes to the reason why I won't be coming...
