We two looked up places and chose this on price and location. We arrived around 7pm to find a deserted market and closed building. The few locals there encouraged us to ring a small white bell by the door. ||Sure enough a cheerful man appeared and opened up for us. Showed us a top floor nice clean twin (#6) room with a small shower/toilet/sink en suite. Price was a lttkw under B.c at £14.60! Beds were together and form and a view of a church on the hill. ||The room had plenty of space for settling bags etc, electricity points for charging devices and a 22 inch flat screen tv, only one hanger in the wardrobe though. ||We paid the 80 lei in cash and presented one passport. He returned with he change, receipt and pp a few minutes later. ||After our filling meal we returned and watched a bit of tv (first time in Ro) including subtitled English American films (hence the locals' grasp of English!) and the amazing 'favorite' channel with old style folk music in modern videos with the quaint country life scenes that Pres C had tried to expunge in his days! ||Overnight it was quiet but at about 7 am the echoey hall and stairwell amplified the comings and goings of other guests. ||Shower room was a bit tight but clean and functional although the sink took a bit of time to drain. Shower head needs to be secured high up to wash one's hair. Hot water took a bit of time to arrive.||We decided to stay another night so went to the bar/cafe downstairs and met the Biss who was so pleased he offered us a complimentary coffee each! Considering that in Bucharest that risks be 7 lei it was 10% of the room's bill! Everything is relative! ||Wifi was good too, wep key ending in 1 not a 4 as written! Got there in the end!||We expired he market this morning and bought some smoked cheese. Currently eating that with a couple of beers overlooking the 'Princely Church and Court of Arges' opposite, in the sun under the blue canopies with no stupid music. ||Being close to the station and the amazing church The pension is very good value. I hope the owner gets elected into...

Read moreVery good place to stay. We arrived in town in the afternoon having miscalculated our driving distance and without a place to stay overnight.||The square in front of the hotel was buzzing with a farmer's market, cars, wagons, animals. Everyone was going about their daily business and it was quite exciting.||The building and the structure is quite old but appears to be well maintained and it is clean.||The owner was a very friendly guy, booked us in, made us a very good espresso, and chatted for a half hour with us, very interested in our travels.||We had a room on the top floor and there was a balcony we could overlook the while town nearly. ||It certainly has a very rural feel, and to be quite honest, while lying in bed late that night with only a slight glow coming in at an angle into a high window on the wall casting a oddly-shaped shadow on the opposing wall, I felt quite apprehensive and nervous being in a top-floor-room in an old hotel in the heart of...
