Hotel Solymar — Hotel in Mangalia

This is a refurbished old hotel right above the Mangalia boardwalk and main beach. Rooms with sea view are airy, clean and have all the amenities, but are in no way spectacular or charming. You can watch the sunrise from the balcony and enjoy the shade provided by old linden trees. They have a boardwalk-facing garden with a small playground, very well tended but kitschy. The hotel is overall decent, but way to pricy for what it offers. The only strong point is the position. You'll reach the beach in a two-minute walk. Equally close, but in the opposite direction, is the market where you can eat the traditional suberek and drink braga. But it's also a noisy area, and in high season you'll have to put up with revellers and restaurants that play really loud and bad...

We spent 8 night at this hotel. |(+) The location of the hotel is very good near a very nice beach,|Room was big, modern, clean and the furniture was almost new,|The bed sheets were changed every 3 days and arranged each day. The towels were changed every day.|The balcony was very big and had a modern touch by use of glass. Also the bathroom was large, new and the shower cabin was nice.|The front garden of the hotel offers lots of resting places and all was green.|The staff was very nice and helpfull.|(-) We waren't allowed to see the breakfast offer before we pay for it. The food was good but it was the same every day. |The shower is the fixed type and does not allow an easy use.||Deffenetly we will come here again...

Good points: clean, restaurants close by, close to the beach and the marina, free Wifi, refrigerator in the room.||||Bad points: Expensive for what they offer, cleaning ladies don't care if you have the "Do not disturb" sign, they enter your room while you are still sleeping, small parking lot (10 cars max), smoking was allowed everywhere (on the lobby and sometimes the smoke will enter the rooms)||Sea view rooms are useless because the hotel has some big trees in front of it and you don't see the sea||The staff was cold, we wanted to expand our stay and they almost yelled at us because we dared to ask.
