We never stayed at this B&B before, though we did have meals there a few years back. At that time we enjoyed the place and this year decided to spend a night there (and would have definitely spent a few nights if we could). ||The property now has 3 buildings - we were in building B, in an upper floor double bed room. Double bed in Romania means that the bed is about "queen" or "king" size (Canadian sizing). The room was fairly large, lovely, very very clean and fresh smelling. There is carpet on the floor, which makes it more cosy. They have TV flat screen on the wall, mostly hungarian language channels - but who goes there for the TV! ||The washroom was very clean, and it included shower, toilet and sink, as well as hair dryer. During the winter they use the wall heater if you need to dry some clothes or even the towels. During the summer this heater is obviously disconnected and totally not needed. ||Every room has a balcony, ours was facing building A and the parking lot. with a view tot he woods on the right side. There is parking on the premises for every room, free and assigned at check in. ||The property has a special room for computer gaming, as well as a conference room.||The price is fairly decent, and most probably differs from the summer to the winter season (resort is beautiful all year long). We have seen other comparable properties in the resort and the prices were aligned.||The restaurant provides both demi-pension and a la carte menus and they serve all meals of the day. We preferred the a la carte, and found the dishes to be delicious and inexpensive when converted in Canadian dollars. I cannot vouch how expensive or cheap they seem for locals. There are lots of other places to eat around the resort as well, so there is a lot of choice. While most dishes are meat-based, there is a decent choice of vegetarian options as well. I would say that vegan dishes may be much harder to find though, as they are not typical for Romania except close to the monasteries, or during lent periods.||The location overall is beautiful, just at the edge of the woods, on the street that goes downhill from the downtown towards the exit out of town. Probably about 5 min walk from the downtown (Lac Ursu - Bear Lake). There is a small lake on the side of the establishment, but I am not sure if it belongs to the property or if it's been used at all.||During the day, from the "old train station", leaves the "Mocanita" train. This is an archaic train, imitating the trains from the beginning of the 1900s. The carriages are wooden and the engine is steam based, powered by wood. The trip takes about 2 hrs, covering 14 kms. The train runs on narrow rails, typical for the old fashioned mountain trains. For tickets you have to ask at the Information office next to the roundabout, at the entrance into the resort. This old train runs 3 times daily, at 11 am, 2 pm and 5 pm.||During the winter, there is a ski slope available, though I do not know details in regards to this.||It is recommended that you book accommodation in advance. This being said, we were able to just walk in and get a room, as it was at the beginning of the week and not a week-end.||There are quite some things to do around the resort, including swimming in the thermal Bear Lake, hiking in the surrounding woods, taking a quick drive or bus to Salina Praid (Praid Salt Mine) whihc is about 10 km away, or taking a tour of the resort in the choo-choo train that runs from the parking lot close to the roundabout , up into the mountains around the resort (this is an entertainment vehicle different from the "Mocanita" train).||Overall, we had a wonderful time and will definitely go back there on our next trip...
Read moreThe hotel has a great location, very close to the lake in a quite area.||Every room has it's own designated parking place, so no matter when you return you're spot is always available.||Room was very large, so was the bed so we slept very comfortably.||Every room has a terrace, as it was winter we did not use it, but for summer for sure it is nice to have.||Staff was friendly on arrival, she gave as information without even asking|||| Negatives:||Staff at checkout very unprofessional, it was a different person than at check in.||We just had to leave our key and the queue was small, 2 people before us checking out, so we figured we are out in 5 minutes, but it took much longer as the receptionist was chit chatting with other guests or staff about their breakfast, they weren't even checking out! she could have had plenty of time for that after we left. Very unprofessional behavior!||The end of this experience was very unpleasant. I would have rated it higher, if this did not happen||Also the heater in our room was very small, for the size of the room, so it...
Read moreAs mentioned in the title we only stopped here for lunch - we were not guests of the hotel. ||So here are the thoughts about the restaurant and food. ||Location - near the "Black Lake " in Sovata - can be seen from the terrace, with a good seating capacity on the terrace - a very nice spot. ||Service - very fast and very helpful waitress , nothing to complain ... ||Food - a good selection - we got Gulyas soup and Fried trout - fried in corn flour - both very tasty and generous portions - the trout was a little too dry - but hey when its fried it's hard to catch the right point to take it out of the frying pan. ||Still very good food, nothing to complain. ||Prices - pocket friendly - a very good price to quality ratio. And they take credit card - tips you can only do cash. ||Overall - I have no clue how is the hotel - but I can tell you the food is very good. When in the area...
