I hadn't been able to find a lot of information on this pension before going, so I was very pleasantly surprised after navigating to it through the (as a Canadian, horrendously confusing) transportation system to find that it was a real gem. The decor is new, rich, and comfortable, and the girl who was working on my first night, although new, was eager to help (both staff that I dealt with had a fairly good grasp of English). The room itself was well appointed, and once again whoever decorated this space really has an eye for detail. Breakfast was diverse and of a quality that one would expect from a very good pension such as this. The price, as well, was quite reasonable.||||So why only four out of five? Well, aside from my general distaste for giving "perfect" scores (not a factor here, I assure you!), Normandia suffers from being away from the centre of town, in a neighbourhood where it is out of place. After I got used to getting around in the city (there is a tram stop nearby, albeit requiring transfers to get anywhere useful) it wasn't a problem, but on the whole it did take something away from the experience.||||In summary, then, if you know the city or are planning on staying for longer and don't "need" to see the centre as much, then this is a wonderful choice. The place was empty when I was there and I think they both need and deserve the business. If you are, however, staying for a shorter time and want to do more sightseeing, then you may consider something...
Read moreWe stayed only one (brief) night at this hotel and were sad that we weren't there longer. As others have mentioned, it is a bit out of the way; it is on what is mostly a residential side street on the southern side of the city. As we didn't have time to do much in Timisoara, this wasn't an issue for us. We did walk toward the old city (about 1 mile) for our night out, and could have used the trolley instead. The location does mean a very quiet night for sleeping.||||The room was enormous and well-decorated. We had a separate sitting room, bath off a small hallway, and bedroom on the opposite side from the bath. There was a refrigerator in the sitting area.||||The bed was comfortable. The room - as were all of our rooms on the trip - was overheated, and we had to turn down the heat. Once that was done, it as fine.||||The breakfast was continental with the option of scrambled eggs and omelet on request. The selection was very nice.||||Hotel staff were fantastic and attentive. On our way out, we asked to use the computer to check in for flights and that was not a problem at all.||||A small dedicated parking area is available in the front...
