We booked here on the strength of the outstanding reviews....but were even more impressed than we expected. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. We had a balcony overlooking the street. There are rooms overlooking the hills which are lovely too. Teodora is the master chef, assisted by her delightful daughter Maria who speaks excellent English. Vitale is the father and so helpful. Our shower bracket was broken and he fixed it next day whilst we were out visiting the gorgeous villages nearby. Oh my goodness though, the food is just the best so far in Romania. Evening meals feature appetiser, soup, mains and dessert, all lovingly prepared with fresh local ingredients. And all this for 10 Euro per head! You can eat here even if staying elsewhere as long as there is space. Just call to check availability. Vadu is a perfect base as it's at the junction of the three valleys which are filled with stunning local villages where people are so happy to say hello. You can hire bikes in Breb and ride through the more out of the way villages which is a must do. Look out for the water powered wool processing cottage in Sarbi. Elena the young mum who runs it loves to show people around and speaks good English. Maramures is one of the jewels in the Romanian...

From the hot baked bread in the yard, the fresh milk milks from beautiful and healthy cows .... to the sour cream that you confuse very easily with butter, if you're not careful, what are you kneading the bread slice in the morning at breakfast ... From traditional foods, made with only natural ingredients, to the cakes made in the house ... Sometimes, there I was expecting my grandmother to come out kitchen and call, kids, to come to dinner ........ Then each room has the charm that only art in wood can have. Clean and stylish linen, sparkling and clean baths .... Then the silence, the silence of the courtyard and the wooden kiosks there, the carved cradles in wood, where you cling and dreaming to the best of the world||I do not have words to describe what you can feel in the house of these people. Try one day to stop at this location ... and you will definitely see a slogan come true ... stay a friend for life with...
