Just back from a 4 night (late November-early December) stay at the hotel for a mini-honeymoon with my wife and we really enjoyed ourselves.
Upon arrival it was easy to find a free parking space outside the hotel. The check-in was super quick, and we had a nice big room on the top floor. While the room is on the 4th floor, the elevator only goes to the 3rd, which is a little quirk, but not a big deal.
The hotel restaurant was just what we needed, which served a mix of traditional dishes (think ceafa, mamaliga, mici, papanasi, etc), general fast food and international cuisine (burger, crispy chicken, pizza, pasta, etc), and typically more expensive items, such as steak. As a side note, both times we got pasta it was excellent!
The hotel says it does room service in the check-in brochure, but when we tried calling reception the phone didn't work. When we asked at the reception later on we were told that to order "room service", you need to place your order at the reception desk and then come back down to collect it, and then when we did go to do this, we were directed to order in the restaurant. One time the waitress offered to bring it to the room, the other time we were asked to collect it. I don't mind any of this, but just don't call it room service when it is actually ordering a takeout from the restaurant.
Twice we went for massages in the spa at the hotel. Both were great and I'd recommend anyone to give it a try. The pool was quite full in the evenings (after 7pm) but usually the relaxation zone with the saunas and steam rooms were quite quiet.
Viseu is a great location to explore the surrounding area, as it is super close to mocanita de viseu (5 minutes drive). We also did a day trip to Borsana monestary and Sapanta, which was about 150km round trip.
There are only some small things that I'd improve about the hotel. Generally speaking the hotel was great, but some attention to detail was missing, like the fitting around the light switch beside the bed not being attached properly and falling off, one of the bulbs flickering on the main light in the bedroom (told reception about this), the "room service" that I mentioned above just to be a clear and consistent process (same thing every time, rather than slightly different depending who you speak to), and some parts of the decoration around the hotel needing some repairs (e.g. the pillars in the breakfast room having parts that are broken). The breakfast in the morning isn't the same quality as the food in the hotel restaurant, but that's not saying it was bad, just not the same standard.
We'd both come back...

Stopped for a quick drink and relax at the Hotel’s Bar and outsidel terrace. Ordered 1 lemonade MADE honey in it and 1 espresso - Turned up with what looked like ICE with lemonade (90% ice and 10% lemon&peppermint leaves) - honey pouch on a side …(I thought I asked to BE MADE WITH HONEY IN IT!) - honey was solid inside the pouch therefore could not use it. Even if I had a soft/runny honey there was nothing to stir it up. I finished the 20ml liquid inside and went to the till to pay. The waiter read back what I ordered and attempted to charge me for espress as well. When pointed out therr was no espresso served, passed the pos to a colleague who then passed it to yet anither colleague to complete the order. While waiting to pay for the order, I observed the ABSOLUTE AMATEURS working behind the bar. STARING AT ME LIKE I LOOKED LIKE AN ALIEN not even saying hello or a smile. What a service wrapped with most prpbably undet-age waiters, with no clue of what TABLE SERVICE MEANS. Nevermind not serving what was ordered!
I had no apology or thanks for visiting what LOOKED “ posh and inviting” - NOWHERE NEAR. And I bet those leaving 5 stars service reviews were either paid , brobed, or they never seen or experience TRULY...

I had a very bad experience just now , the owner of Hotel Gabriela, giving me out from her Spa because I am not a customer of her Hotel with very high prices . Yesterday I was in Spa area aswell I found many problems including steam room broken door( the door is opening very often), showers bad, sensations shower not working People who were guests of her Hotel drinking wine in carton glasses others drinking beers in bathroom because her politic and regulations are people should come up from basement where is Spa , get dressed and pay 26RON( 5.10) euros for a beer!when a beer is 10 ron! More than that there is no smoking area near Spa area, I used back door where cleaners have their brake and smoke Personal not trained to be nice! They are looking how to tell you something you did wrong. I payed 100 ron for Spa and the owner(woman) started arguing with me telling me to leave at 3 pm because Hotel is booked out...a lie because only elderly people very few maximum 20 people were today...Yesterday maximum 30 She was very rude...is full of money and have no respect for people! Food: I had a bacon bean soup cost me 27 RON one coup of soup 2 slices of bread...not happy very little! Last year I payed 180 Ron for a steak full with sinews! She didn't want to change it or give me a better...
