Food was really good, big sizes too and also, very fair prices. The staff however made the experience less pleasant. Overall the staff seemed chaotic, at some point pretending not to see you, all over the place, different people taking your order, one for drinks one for food, getting them incomplete...there was one waitress that seemed genuinely welcoming and nice(don't know her name, but she was young and dark haired)...the rest just pretty lousy or if not that, very badly organized. As an idea of the experience we had: We arrived and were looking to decide on what table to sit (they have no hostess) - 3 waiters passed us while we were just standing there, we said hello and got one hello back, which sounded more surprised than welcoming. We decided to sit at a table close to the bar. We waited for about 10 min for someone to bring us the menus- all this while one foot away, at the bar, there was a waiter and the bartender talking and doing pretty much nothing. We eventually got the menus and ordered the drinks, which we received incomplete. At the food, we had a special request which was confirmed it could be done but in the end it wasn't - that's fine, food was still yummy. At the end we asked for leftovers to take, which promted the waiter to clean our table, however that was not the case for the table next to us, where a group of 3 people waited for like 20-30 min without their empty plates being taken. They ended up paying and leaving, and 10 minutes after they left 3 waiters started cleaning the table...
So, overall, excellent food and huge sizes. You must try the strudel. Keep in mind your experience will depend on being lucky enough to be served by the one waitress that has any...
Read moreThis was our second time visiting. We first went to La Cassa in May of 2016, and we were hooked. Let's start with the people: Alexandra and Deea, the two lovely ladies that looked after us for the length of our stay were downright amazing. They were very warm and welcoming, making us feel at home. Next, the food; which is extremely tasty and the plates are very very generous. You can't go wrong with anything from the menu. I do recommend the potato soup with sausages, haidouks pork neck and the amazing banana pie. The breakfast was just out of this world, with crepes, to bacon(slana), cheese, eggs, omelette's, fruit, pretty much anything that you would want. The rooms are very clean and warm as well. The mattress is memory foam, the pillows are goose down(very heavy), the decor in the rooms is very nouveau chic combined with rustic wood and brick. The gardens/patios are very cozy as well. Even though it is hidden between some apartment buildings, it is very quiet. There is also a super market right across the street for your needs.
We really enjoyed our stay even more the second time around.
Will definitely...
Read moreBeautiful and affordable place to stay for a holiday in the historic Maramures. The place is very cosy and has a beautiful garden with trees and flowers at the back of the main building where you can enjoy a drink or a meal. In the reception area they offer a beautiful private room for special events which can accommodate up to 12 people at the time. Very friendly and professional staff who can communicate very well in English. The breakfast was excellent and offered a wide variety of food and drinks. Rooms are decent size and very clean. WiFi can be sometimes weak in the new building but the signal in the reception area was very good. The place has got easy access by car to all the important touristic points in the area (Vasser Valley steam train, Borsa ski resort and Horses Waterfall, Moisei Monument and Monastery,...
