Warm hospitality, great food, and the perfect base for exploring Maramureș

We had a really lovely stay at Pensiunea Mallorca Vișeu. Cristi, the owner, made us feel genuinely welcome, warm, down-to-earth, and full of local knowledge. When we weren’t sure where to go, he kindly guided us through the best places to visit nearby, including the Mocănița steam train.

The rooms are clean, comfortable and affordable, and the setting is just right quiet, with a peaceful garden and terrace where we could relax and put our feet up after a full day out.

The food was a standout all freshly cooked with local ingredients in their on-site restaurant. Cristi even surprised us with a delicious paella, and we later learned about his ties to Palma de Mallorca – a lovely touch! We also got to try their homemade Horinca, which really added to the local experience.

Inside, there’s a charming little display of traditional Maramureș items, giving the place real character.

If I had one small suggestion, it would be to have a simple leaflet or a bit more local info in English – just to help first-time visitors like us plan ahead. But honestly, that doesn’t change the feeling...

Just got here today, after reservation on Booking, and as I was on my way, Cristian, the owner, phoned me kindly for confirmation. As I arrived, he showed me to my room, after explaining the house rules and got my personal data. Prices are very nice: 4 nights with breakfast at 80 euros. Food is made by Cristian's women, Loredana, and it's very good. You must try "sarmale"... Also Cristian has some good ideas about how to spend your time in...

Christian was a wonderful and hospitable host, he introduced a couple of sights "not commonly known to tourists" it was a delight! We had a wonderful stay and dinner with Christian, along with romanian liquor and homemade dessert.
