I stayed at Pensiunea Medieval between Christmas and New Year 2017. The location is a few minutes walk from the train station at Predeal, which is around a popular area in the main town area. The town is rally small so almost everything is walking distance, which is really helpful. The skiing area is around 5-10 minutes walk (initally crossing the train-line so look both ways).||I took my wife and two children with me. My wife is Romanian so speaks the language and knows the culture. She booked a family room, which was on the corner of the hotel. The room had an en-suite bathroom, which had a corner bath with jets. My son used it and enjoyed it a lot (I think it was his first jet-bath!). The room also had a balcony with a nice view of the town, though I could only see other hotels ;-)||The family room was basically a regular double room with a couch that can be extended into another double bed. The bed was a bit squeaky but comfortable. The room as a whole was tidy, clean and very pleasant. It had a small flat-screen TV and the bathroom had a hairdryer and shampoo etc.||The hotel has three levels and has a nice wooden, natural feel to the place. The staff were very friendly, with genuine smiles and gave me the feel that they really want you to have a nice time with them. Sadly, no one seemed to speak English. My wife spoke to them and booked us in and ordered meals in the cosy resturant.||There didn't seem to have a opening and closing times for the resturant. We turned up at various times even after 11am. There was always someone waitering. We just sat down to a table and were asked what we wanted. The style of the food is typical Romanian, so no cooked breakfast. We mostly had omelets with either ham or cheese, with toast and a cup of coffee etc. On our last day (Saturday) there was a buffet breakfast with different kinds of cheeses, meats and cereals, which was nice. One noticeable omission was fruit juice. I quite like fresh orange or apple juice in the morining, but I was happy with my coffee. My kids had a pleasant hot chocolate.||The place has wifi. We weren't charged for it but had to ask for the password. Our corner room had a weak signal but other parts of the building was much stronger. Downstairs from the resturant was a games and entertainment area. This was very nice. The best was a four-line ten-pin bowling. There is a charge but there is a discount for staying guests. It was very good value for money. There is also a bar providing a range of drinks.||Overall, I really enjoyed staying here. The prices were very reasonable. Although the lack of English speaking staff made some thing difficult it wasn't a big issue (even if you don't have a wife who speaks the language). It was only difficult at the restaurant ordering the food. The staff tried really hard to understand...
Read moreGreat staff, nice place to stay of you want something minimal and rustic, clean, kids friendly, fun(bowling, billiard, Air hockey...) , and an amazing view. A great plus, it's about 5 mins away from the train station and pretty close to the Predeal's winter sports area. For it's price, a fair deal. 4 stars, because i don't know about the restaurant, but the morning meal wasn't one of the best i ever had. I will for sure recomand it to...
