Hotel Heliopark Suzdal was the biggest disappointment during our trip to Russia. NOT even one “room picture” from the TripAdvisor, Booking & Hotels.com. sites show even the lightest resemblance to the rooms we received. We got 2 rooms in the very last hut farthest away from the main building, in second floor. There was not any help to carry the suitcases up to the upper floor. Only in the morning we have noticed that no one had stayed in the ground floor. ||The room itself was very, very, very poor which is more reminiscent of a room in a youth hostel or kids summer camp and NOT !!! 4-star hotel. ||The breakfast was also not a 4-star hotel’s meal but was integrated into the overall picture: tasteless food, poor service and a long waiting for the arrival of the food from the kitchen, perhaps because of 2 large tourists’ groups that arrived together. The only bright spot in this hotel is the surrounding landscape and the view as soon as sunrise, for early...
Read moreA 90 minute train journey from Moscow, Suzdal is a weekend retreat town for most Muscovites and not always on the itinerary of foreign tourists. Since we were on a longer tour we included it, along with Vladimir, on our itinerary to get a feel of the interior parts of Russia. |Azimut Hotel (3 Stars) is a bit away from the heart of the city but has a lot on offer. There are two residential blocks, one with bare bricks and the other, a fully wooden building like the ones they had in Russia in the olden days. We stayed in the rustic wooden building named 'Bashenki House'... the room was an authentic log cabin but with modern amenities and very clean... a rare experience. This is a vast property with a flowing stream and cute small bridges , a windmill, many scenic spots, a lot of greenery around and one can easily spend time with nature, in here.....ideal for photographs|There is a restaurant that serves Russian and Continental cuisine as also a well stocked bar - both with reasonable prices. There are a few collections of old things around like ancient locks, a Hollywood movie set, Spa/ Massage houses that lead into the river, a games room, etc all of which enhance the charm and make for an unusual experience. |We were thrilled to be in this unique place and would strongly recommend it to anyone - young or old - for at least a couple of...
Read moreFirst and foremost, the complex is impressive, the location is right, and the hotel restaurant has some good food. However, the staff destroys the whole atmosphere. The restaurant lady was clearly trying to make me cancel one of the dishes on my order by providing false information about the dish. I mean, I realise that I showed up at 7pm and am the only one in the restaurant, but this is not the reason to deny me the menu! Upon checkout a cleaning lady was falsely accusing me of using up 2 of their water bottles in the room (they actually charge for those!). The reception clerk had to confirm that I actually closed the bill. Otherwise, their security guard would simply not let me out of the parking lot! Although the restaurant food is good, it is grossly overpriced and takes forever to arrive. Overall, I would say that even though the hotel looks impressive from the first look, I would not come back here again. Cheap and rude...
