I have stayed here twice now, a one night stay for convenience and the second time for a weekend to provide a good base for the town.||||My first time was good, new rooms, clean, polite service and handy for surrounding restaurants. The second time likewise. You know when you repeat something's they don't always work, especially in Russia. Inconsistency is their consistency it seems, sometimes it's good and at others it ain't.||||I would love someone to tell me what is the real service ethic is here, I have yet to discover it, it seems if you want real service you have to pay a very high price which is probably why Moscow is the most expensive city in the world (apparently) it is almost as if a child has a toy, plays with it for a little while and then gets bored.||||Anyhow, the second time we were expected to take our breakfast in the room because they have a wedding?? Ok, but when you return to the hotel at past ten in the evening and the breakfast things are still there and the room is not made up, come on. My patience runs thin here in sunny Russia, you abuse your customers and play easy with their money, smile occasionally and say "the people are new". - they can't all be new, someone needs to take care, it is after all a post soviet period now and time for the kids to grow up.||||The hotel is good but could thrive more and be there for services and not the customer for the services. The restaurant Korcma. - Ukranian style just around the corner is a prime example of good service, the food never let's you down, the staff are always attentive and kind, take note Mr Premier - examples are all around you. molokoletto, Korcma, Bufet, La...
Read moreI just spent 3 weeks in this hotel on a business trip.||||The hotel itself is small, but very clean and stylish. It seems fairly new. ||Rooms are spacy and comfortable.||||The location is also not bad, very close to Gorky Square and a metro station, and just 5-10 minutes from the Prokovskaya St. which is the main pedestrian street running from Gorky Square to the Kremlin.||||However, the staff hardly speaks a word English, so if you don't speak Russian, be prepared to communicate through gestures and Google Translate, or probably better, bring a phrase book.||||Another slightly annoying thing was some occasional noise from the apartment upstairs. Just above my room, there was quite some commotion with kids running, it seemed. Also someone practicing the violin, but that was actually only charming. ||||The restaurant I only had my simple breakfast in, but I don't think you should expect anything special from it. Btw. the lady running the restaurant speaks French, so if you know a little French, you can ask for her to interpret for the receptionists.||||But overall, I was quite content with my stay, and I picked this hotel, because it was closest to my friends, that I...
Read moreThe room we stayed at (a large double) was very spacious, well kept and clean. Same goes to the bathroom. A full bathroom set (slippers, bathrobes, toothpaste, shampoos etc) was provided which is quite rare for non 5* hotels in Russia, this was quite nice. Very good shower and comfortable beds.|However, everything else was kept to a minimum. Breakfast was average to say the least and the woman at the reception had no information about anything we asked (and seemed very surprised every time we did ask!). |Overall we were happy with our choice, but we would suggest also looking at other options...
