I booked this hotel for 3 nights before I left the island. A friend of mine had decided to visit the island at the same time and so in the interest of saving money and given I already had a twin room, I messaged the property to ask if my friend could stay 2 of the 3 nights. I dealt with Catarina.initially I was told it was extra tourist tax and pay for breakfast (breakfast was included in my single booking) which was fair. Because of other experiences on the island I wrote back to double check and agree. Then she did a complete about face and told me it was more and I should cancel my booking and make a new one for 2 nights with 2 people and 1 night for 1 person. When I looked at this the prices had gone up even just for my single booking by 30 euro. I declined this and my friend organised to stay somewhere else. Then I got an email from booking.com saying Casa Luis was canceling my booking| When I asked why directly to the hotel she told me that they didn't want someone to stay who wouldn't be happy. I ended up canceling the booking as requested because she was not only rude but said I wouldn't adhere to their policies. I never said anything to them about policies I only asked for my friend to sleep 2 out of 3 nights in an already twin room. As I was already on the island I found another much nicer place and negotiated the price to cheaper than Casa Luis. I think she was annoyed my friend went elsewhere and I wouldn't change my initial booking. Really...
Read moreLuis and Catarina were excellent hosts. The room was clean, although we weren't provided with any soap for the shower (we'd brought our own) and the toilet cistern packed up on a couple of occasions. No fridge in the room ... nor coffee/tea making facilities.|We were surprised by the difficult access road to the property, but found it relatively easy to walk the last 800m to Cast Luis from the road.|Breakfasts were good (massive croissants!) and the garden was pleasant. The pool was refreshing. If we were not in town, we would walk to one of the two restaurants on Praia Emilia (Filomar and Omali Lodge) for an evening meal. |Apart from the difficult access, we were shocked at the cost of an airport transfer arranged by Luis at the end. Exorbitant for a five minute drive (especially when compared with taxis we used to take...
Read moreCasa Luis met our needs with a room with 3 beds. It’s kind of a bed and breakfast style place. Big house with a number of rooms and a community sitting area and kitchen. We were the only people there but when they were setting up for breakfast we could tell the walls/door was thin. We were very thankful that we were able to leave our luggage as we went out and explored then waited in their living area through the afternoon until we needed to go to the airport. Breakfast was sufficient. I took one star because there is no sign out front, we went around and around on pretty rough roads looking for it, finally realizing we pasted by it a number of times but thought we must be in the wrong place because there was no indication that it wasn’t just a house. A sign would be...
