CENTRALLY LOCATED WITH COMFORT & GOOD SERVICE
My family & I (2 adults & 2 children) chose the property for a weekend getaway during Jan of 2023.
We generally stay at Khobar but this time decided to settle for Dammam and a new property selected.
I chose Residence Inn, Dammam due to its newness (constructed less than a year back), location (close to corniche, restaurants & parks), free & ample parking as well as availability of suites.
POSITIVES (+) The location is very good with easy access to commercial shopping centers and restaurants with 5-10 mins of drive & walk.
(+) I chose a King suite which is a bedroom and lounge, ideally suited for a family of 4. The giant bed inside is supremely comfortable & offers you a high quality sleep. The sofa cum bed in the lounge is ideal for 2 children
(+) Our suites was spacious was enough walking space with a kitchenette installed. The kitchenette had all the necessary requirements including refrigerator, freezer, dish washer, crockery, cutlery etc.
(+) The views from the room (Sheraton facing) were nice and complimented with the rainy season made it worthwhile
(+) We stationed ourselves at the 5th floor away from elevator. The passages inside are modern and lighted up. There is a special kids arena downstairs in the mezzanine floor for kids activities. The pool on the ground floor is spacious but we couldn't use it due to weather. (+) Parking outside is ample with Good availability to park 100 odd cars outside & in the basement
NEGATIVES
(-) Our room was not sound proof as we could hear horns and other noise from the road all throughout our stay. We checked if any of the windows was ajar but that wasn't the case. All windows were closed intact yet the noise kept coming in during the day and evening
(-) There is only one washroom in each suite which tends to become a hassle especially when you're staying with a family. Generally, hotels offering family suites have 1.5 washrooms in such suites which wasn't the case
(-) The washroom sliding door was faulty in my room resulting in my wife getting locked inside the washroom for 45 mins. Tried calling the maintenance staff three times, and when the guy came he accepted the door lock is faulty. He proposed us to change the room and move to a room adjacent to it. When I went with him to check if all is well, the sliding door of the second room was also faulty :D Eventually, I told that we will sing while being in the washroom to avoid locking it again!
(-) Breakfast is okayish with nothing much to talk about. They have a limited range of food items, some bakery items were stale. However, staff at the restaurant is very cordial & friendly. If you don't like the food in the hotel, you can just walk outside to find some really amazing affordable diners.
Overall recommended for both SINGLE AND...
Read moreI am a Lifetime Gold Elite Marriott member and had the pleasant experience of staying 2 nights at this brand new hotel (around 2 months old to my understanding at the time of my stay). Hotel staff were very professional and friendly from the beginning to the end, including front desk, bellboy, restaurant staff, and room service. Hotel location is close to shopping mall and plenty of restaurants around the area (check out Lumiere Lounge, awesome burgers). Saudi Aramco is also around a 30 minute drive if you're here on a business trip. Breakfast was great with lots of varaiates, better than any of the Residence Inn's I have previously stayed at in US or Europe. Breakfast server Mr. Salim Mohamad was outstanding and very helpful. Room wise, we stayed in a 1 bedroom suite, it was spacious and clean with nice furniture and decor, bed was comfortable. My only observation about the room is the AC unit. When we checked into the room it was freezing cold and we turned off both AC units, and they remained off during the entire stay, however the room was still very cold even with the AC off for 2 days. I noticed there was cold air still coming out of the AC vents even though it was off. Fortunately we had some sweaters on us and we ended up wearing them in the room during the stay. I would suggest to have maintenance check why the AC units are behaving this way. Family enjoyed the kids pool and regular pool, good outdoor shower and plenty of pool towels. Another great thing about the hotel is that it's entirely a smoke-free hotel, which is not something typical to find in Saudi hotels (US Marriott hotels are all smoke-free for quite a long time now since 2006). However unfortunately there were still people smoking in the hotel's closed basement garage, and they turned out to be the hotel's night time restaurant chefs smoking in the garage. It was unpleasant to smell the intense cigarettes smoke in such a closed area as I was walking with my little kids in the garage. I would suggest to restrict smoking in the garage so guests can avoid such unpleasant experiences. Overall great stay and would definitely stay here again when visiting the...
