A 5-Star Hotel? More Like a 2-Star Disaster! Staying at this hotel was a complete disappointment. Despite claiming to be a 5-star hotel, it barely meets the standards of a 2-star accommodation.
Horrible Room Conditions The air-conditioning system was a nightmare—loud, unpredictable, and completely out of control. It would sometimes turn freezing cold and other times stop working entirely, making the room hot and humid. The controls were useless, as the AC seemed to have a mind of its own. Housekeeping was nonexistent unless you called reception three times and begged for your room to be cleaned. Even then, they would give fake promises and never show up on time.
Lack of Basic Amenities The amenities were a joke. No soap, no shower gel, no body wash—just a bottle of shampoo! Imagine having to wash your face and hands with hair shampoo in a so-called 5-star hotel. Even the towels were insufficient, and only bath towels were provided. Items like bathroom slippers were not available unless specifically requested. One of the staff bluntly admitted that they couldn't do anything because the hotel was at high occupancy. But if you're running a hotel in Makkah, shouldn't you be prepared for high occupancy instead of using it as an excuse?
Unreliable WiFi & Power Cuts The WiFi was practically useless, constantly disconnecting or not working at all. There were two power cuts during our stay, each lasting 20-30 minutes, and no backup generators kicked in. Even the room key stopped working, leaving us locked out! The hotel couldn’t even fix a simple key issue, forcing us to share just one working key. Lighting in the room was horrendous—no ceiling lights, just weak side lamps and reading lights. After Maghrib, the room was so dark it felt like we were camping without electricity.
Breakfast: A Complete Health Hazard Breakfast was beyond disgusting. People were grabbing food with their hands, squeezing items, tasting them, and putting them back! Zero hygiene, zero control. The food quality was atrocious—watery, tasteless juices and coffee, no cereals, and barely any variety. It felt like budget hostel food despite paying for a luxury experience.
Unprofessional Staff & Fake Shuttle Service The hotel staff were rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional. They seemed like a family-run business with no customer service training—just there to collect their salaries. The shuttle bus service was a complete scam. The schedule was fake, with buses arriving anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour late. Instead of dropping guests at Haram, they dumped everyone at Kudai Parking, forcing us to take another bus. Even the staff gave conflicting answers when asked why.
Final Verdict: A Waste of Money! This was, without a doubt, one of the worst hotel experiences ever. The false 5-star rating is misleading, and the service is an absolute disaster. If you're thinking of booking this hotel—DON'T. Save your money and find a real 5-star hotel that actually delivers what...
Read moreDisappointing Experience at M Hotel Makkah by Millennium
I recently had the experience of staying at M Hotel Makkah by Millennium. While the building itself looks impressive and is clean, let me talk about the part that really matters—the room. After all, we stay in the room, not in the building lobby.
I had high expectations, but my experience was completely disappointing. If you are staying in a hotel for the first time, you might say “wow” based on appearances. But if you’ve previously stayed in 3, 4, or 5-star hotels, you’ll quickly realize the room is no better than a 2 , 3-star standard.
Bathroom The bathroom I got (as shown in my image) seemed like it was meant for the disabled or People of Determination.
Soap This was the first time in a supposed 5-star hotel where I saw a basic soap box placed on the wash basin. In most 3 or 4-star hotels, you’ll at least find proper soap dispensers or wall-mounted liquid dispensers.
Other Issues in the Bathroom
No place to hang clothes—I had to place them on a table.
No shelf or holder to keep soap or shampoo near the shower. I either had to go back mid-shower or keep items on the floor.
The only thing missing was a bucket and mug — it honestly felt like I was in a hospital room.
Room Quality There was an extra door in my room through which I could hear all the sounds from the next room. Lighting was also a major issue. There were very few lights, and only one main LED. After Maghrib, the room felt extremely dark. I couldn’t even see my face properly in the mirror. You can actually see the shadow of a chair in the image I took. I had to use my mobile flashlight for basic small things.
Comparison with Other Hotels I have also stayed at Voco Makkah by IHG, and my experience there was excellent. In comparison, my experience at M Hotel Makkah was really bad.
I visited the reception 3–4 times to request a room change. The morning staff told me to come after 5 PM. When I went back after 5 PM, the new staff said to come again in the morning. They kept saying they would change my room after someone checks out, but nothing was done.
This was my first and last stay at this hotel. I would honestly prefer booking a 2 , 3-star hotel over staying here again. I hope others have a better experience, but personally, I will not be...
Read moreWe arrived at M Hotel Millennium after an exhausting 20+ hour journey with multiple layovers, only to face several issues that made our stay less than comfortable. Upon check-in, we were informed that one of our rooms wasn't ready, leaving six of us cramped into a room meant for three. The room itself was fairly clean, but the floor felt sticky and unkempt, which made it difficult to feel fully at ease.
To make matters worse, there was almost no toilet paper upon our arrival, and no tissue box was provided. We had to call the reception for these basic amenities, which added to the frustration after such a long journey. Even more disappointing was the lack of communication regarding the room’s readiness. We weren’t informed when the room would be available and had to call the hotel ourselves to get an update.
The bathroom was also a letdown. It was dark, stuffy, and lacked proper ventilation, with no fan. The shower had rusty metal fixtures, contributing to an overall sense of neglect and poor cleanliness.
One of the biggest surprises was the hotel’s shuttle service to Masjid al-Haram. We had expected a direct bus to the mosque, but instead, the bus took us to a station where we had to transfer to another bus. Once we reached the area, we had to walk an additional 15 minutes to get to the mosque, making the journey take nearly an hour each way, which was far more inconvenient than we anticipated.
While the hotel had its downsides, some positive aspect was the breakfast and the view from the window. Breakfast offered a decent variety of options, was served with clean utensils, and the menu changed daily. The window had a view of the clock which was a nice touch during our stay.
Overall, it wasn’t the worst hotel but there was some things that could have...
