We (2 adults and 2 kids aged 9 and 11) stayed here for 6 days with another family of 4. ||One of our party is Slovakian and booked connecting rooms for both families, but upon arrival we were told there was only 1 set of connecting rooms available, which meant upheaval for one family (not ours, thankfully!!).||Unfortunately, we were also grated by a rather grumpy bar man who proceeded to tell our kids “I do not speak English” when they asked for help with something! Thankfully, he wasn’t working all week and all the other staff we met were generally very friendly and helpful. ||The breakfast is shared with the next door 3 star hotel and for me this showed. The food was typical Slovakian and there was very little (no) fresh fruit. Some days pancakes were cooked fresh, which the kids liked but these often stopped at 9.30 so by the time we arrived for breakfast (9.45) there were none left. Breakfast finished at 10. Also as guests of the Galeria you can get some additional extras at breakfast but we weren’t told about this until a few days in, and only when we spoke with a waitress. Breakfast was ok but was probably the biggest disappointment. ||The thermal pool are a nice touch, especially after a day’s skiing, but they are very brown and stained all our costumes. You can drink by the pools with plastic glasses but it would be better if there was the ability to order drinks from the bar area that overlooks the pools.||You can also access the aqua park but agin the communication about this is poor. It implies 3 free hours per day (I do not know why it’s 3 hours) but we were charged 20 Euro per adult and 14 Euro per child?! ||You are also issued with a watch type access pass, which makes sense for the pools but it makes it somewhat awkward to access the rooms. These are needed to access the lift (but not the stairs??). ||The bar serves a very nice local beer (enjoyed when mr grumpy was not working!) and it has a wide range of wines/whiskeys. ||The hotel focuses a lot on wellness, but I think it’s getting confused - for example the breakfast is by no means healthy (fired eggs, sausages, eggy bread, cakes...). It does offer some limited fruit options between 11-4 but I suspect most guests are out during this time; we certainly were. ||There was a very nice pizza restaurant just down the road and an excellent local Slovakian restaurant as you enter Besenova. ||The rooms we had were clean and spacious although when and what replacement towels we had was a little random. ||I think the thermal pools and aqua park save the hotel from the breakfast and just about...
Read moreA family of 2 adults and 3 children ages 10 and under. We spent 5 days at Galeria Thermal and Besenova water park. I definitely recommend the place to families with young children. My kids love a lazy river and the one in the water park was great. There is also an indoor section with slides suitable for younger children. We visited Tatralandia and took cable cars to Chopok. Both excursions included in the price of the hotel and we used them with go pass cards with no trouble. The hotel is very modern. All staff including receptionists, waitresses and housekeeping were very polite. We had a ground floor deluxe suite with direct access to hotel pools. I think it was worth its price and we got to spend time in the pools when some members of the party wanted to rest in the room. I give 4 stars rather than 5 because there were some things that could be improved, mainly in the restaurant (we had breakfast and dinner included in our package). There was only one coffee machine which caused queues. The food was good but there weren’t many kids friendly options. Also it wasn’t clearly stated anywhere that you get one drink free from the menu (like beer or wine) per meal. We only found out about it on the 3rd night. Lastly, the housekeeping was not very thorough and we had to ask for pool towels and some supplies to be restocked. All in all, I definitely recommend this hotel and will come back but perhaps I will go for breakfast...
Read moreThis was my second stay at Galeria Thermal. We decided to try the newly-built Pamukkale section and it did not dissapoint. The apartment was really specious and beautifully decorated. We chose the ground floor with direct access to a private pool and it was great for us and our 3 children. I guess my only complaint would be that the toilet flush was really loud. However, I take away one star of my rating for poor planning of parking spaces. Some of the allocated spots are directly under balconies with thermal jacuzzis. A spillage from a jacuzzi or some other liquid stained my car. I doubt this was a one-off incident as there were many green stains on the pavement along the balcony area. The blemish was so bad that it wouldn’t come off in an automated car wash and had to be removed by a professional. I raised this issue with reception and the hotel paid for the cleaning of my car and also allowed us to check out late. All in all, I definitely recommend Galeria Thermal but ask for parking away from...
