We originally booked a different accommodation in Dolny Kubin, but the communication was really rude and unprofessional so we cancelled it. When we contacted Koliba, the communication was very responsive, friendly and professional. |We loved the position of Koliba as we came by train. It is an easy walk from the station. Check-in and check-out were easy and quick, we even managed to check in 10 minutes earlier. |We were 4 people - 2 adults, a teenager, and a tweenager. We were given a room for 6 people. The room was as shown in the pictures on Koliba's website; it was comfortable and spacious, all furnished in wood (pine?). The room was very clean. The bathroom seemed newly renovated, it had sufficient toiletries and plenty of towels. The shower was great with a good flow. During our stay the weather was overcast but the room was quite warm. |The buffet breakfast was served from 7 am to 10 am in the downstairs restaurant and it offered 2 types of sausages, scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, vegetables (tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers), yogurts, breads, some sweet breads and cereals. Each table had a basket with butter, spreadable cheese, pate, jams, honey and Nutella. A good selection of drinks was served as well. |We had dinners there 3 times and liked the food. Our picky children would have liked to have burgers included but they managed to find something for them as well. |What makes the place outstanding is however its staff. Every single person we talked to was friendly, eager to help and they made us welcome at any time of the day. Nothing was a bother. |The only thing I would improve would be having a kettle in the room. We will return when/if we come...
Read moreA great discovery! This penzion was perfect for our large family of six. We arrived after dark and one of the waitresses on staff showed my kids around to help them feel at home.
There's a playground outside and plenty of delicious local food.
The area is perfect for travelers being so close to a grocery store and other conveniences. It's also within a few short drives of some amazing history.
Some Positives: -Great Staff!!!! My son left a stuffed toy in the room and they mailed it to us in Germany! -Neat decorations -Wonderful atmosphere -Close to things you need -Playground for kids -Games in rooms for kids -Televisions in each room -Great WiFi coverage
Negative: -The bathroom quality does not match the rest of the quality of experience of this hotel. It's clean and functional, but not up to the standards of the rest of the establishment.
If we come back, we're staying here and when we tell friends about the trip, we'll recommend they book...
Read morePopular modern and clean rustic-style restaurant with accommodation. Children will like the gingerbread house and other imaginatively decorated chalets that can be booked. Spaces can be a bit tight though: we declined a cottage with a twin bedroom accessed through the master room (with the ensuite shared by all). Our double bed had only one night stand because the room was too narrow. Space was further restricted by stairs to a mezzanine with three single beds: best for families perhaps. Bathrooms are modern. Toiletries are limited. A broken shower was quickly repaired (no bath tub). The restaurant is fitted out in wood and decorated with local crafts. Breakfast included warm eggs and sausage, bread, cheeses and cordial. You might be lucky and get Danish pastries, but we had to go buy our own fruit. Lunch and dinner has local favourites and vegetarians have several options, if you like sheep's cheese. Unfortunately there's nothing for vegans. Limited...
