This is a pretty awful deal overall. We were given a room where the temperature was around 45 degrees centigrade. Requested one in a temperate climate. After some trepidation, ugly face making and keys shuffling, we received a room on the other, non-overheated side of the building. ||||Speaking of which, this is pre-fab concrete housing marvel, direct out of 1974 (my guess) a true miracle of Czechoslovak housing industry. ||||The second room was tolerable, although stank from the unbearable detergent "scent" they used in washing the sheets. An effort has been made to modernise one floor of this hotel with poor aircon that barely copes with 35C summer weather. But everything else is a let down. Horrible, horrible food and horrible service that belongs to the communist times. I suggest demolish the building! And I am not joking! Accept defeat and start from scratch! Even an empty land would be better. This building and the communist looking block of flats nearby are an offence to the beautiful Synagóga Lučenec. Sadly, the whole Lučenec experience was full of disappointment and unbelievable unwelcoming and unhelpful behaviour of the Lučenec inhabitants.

What make my review 5* is staff, especially lovely lady at the reception, Ildiko. She couldn't do enough for us, always smiling, with a great attitude and fantastic customer service skills. Hope she gets recognition she deserves as she personally makes guests experience better. Well...
