Hotel Sebastian u Hoffera — Hotel in Modra

We spent there 2 days on a company meeting - all together some 30 people. Hotel is nicely situated in a great landscape, however lacks parking places. My colleagues had to park their cars in nearby streets, sometimes quite far away. Hotel is nice and clean, however you can feel a lack of a good taste - some decorations, lamps and furniture pieces just do fit there.||Food was good, however staff was terrible - taking only one order at the time and bringing drinks also only one at time. Soup was completely cold and at the end we got a food ordered by another congress groups, which had a lunch at the same time. Waiters were wearing white gloves and they used them also when emptying ashtrays and than serving the food again...At the end the lunch took 2,5 hours instead of 1 hour (everything was ordered in adavnce, including same menu for everybody. We have stayed here couple of times in the past years. |Firstly, its very difficult to find the free room over the weekends in the main season. They are usually booked in advance due to the weddings or events in Modra (and there are many)|The rooms are just fine but nothing extra. We got a room under the roof, so in the summer it can be very challenging. The doors did not fit properly and could hear everything&everyone in the hall. The beds are tragedy - extremely soft matrace to sleep on.|Smoking should be prohibited in the lounge as there is cigarette smell in the whole area.|Breakfast its either a la carte or buffet (depending on the number of guests). The staff is probably underpaid, based on their miserable faces. Smoking at the bar and chatting while we were waiting there ready to order, they did not refill the buffet regularly. I would not recommend the restaurant. I ordered a chicken dish with potatoes. The potatoes were cold, no exaggeration and the chicken barely warm. Upon mentioning this to the waitress, she just took the food away and returned 2 minutes later with the plate that appeared the food was microwaved as one potato was hot with the remaining potatoes lukewarm. The chicken was “slightly” warmer, dry & tough. I ordered a coffee with the meal that never arrived. I had seen other customers leave their tables with lots of food left on their plates. No apologies were offered by the staff when mentioning the issue nor anything said when the food returned to the table. I expected, at least a new serving of potatoes at a proper temperature. Then add to this the odour of cigarette smoke coming from the kitchen....
