Hotel Magnus – Trenčín||||A 4 star hotel, seriously??? You can choose a view – onto the hockey stadium and a busy street, drab 1950’s blocks of flats and dustbins, drab 1960’s blocks of flats and a parking lot… etc. Very romantic. Doesn’t location count at all???|| And the room? It appears luxurious, but: no place to put the suitcase, no lamp on the working table, no proper surface or shelf in the bathroom to put your toiletries bag (unless you want it damp from the sink), no shelf in the shower for your shampoos (don’t you just love it when you have to put them on the floor and all the shampoo water gets in your eyes as you bend over), the choice of air was either suffocatingly stiff with closed widows and a disturbing A/C hum, or kitchen ‘fragrance’ spiced up by some constant beeping sound, four types of lighting in the bathroom but only one annoyingly bright ceiling glare in the room and no lamps on the night table!! (yeah, who’d want to read in bed in the 21st century, or just switch on a small soft light not to fall over in the night), stupid „anti-theft“ hangers in the wardrobe (we charge a fortune for the rooms but we don’t trust our customers with the coat hangers), sound insulation from the neighbouring room's bathroom basically none, you could hear all the sounds… need I say more? The designer probably never stayed in a hotel before. Ok, it was clean and the food was nice. But, all in all, a complete waste of money and an utter sham when it...
Read moreThis is not your standard hotel...the lobby looks like an airport/shopping centre - a bit different. The room was very comfortable - massive, tons of storage spaces, the bed alsoahuge and so comfy! My small criticism is about the extremely strong, artificial and quite unpleasant smell at the entrance (air freshener) - it made my eyes water. The hotel restaurant was not for us - strange choice to purely focus on sushi and not have anything else... Also the hotel bar is underwhelming. There is a bowling alley, but we did not have time to try it. The wellness is quite compact and dark but feels intimate. The hammam room could do with maintenance - there were piles of loose tiles and it smelt musty. The other saunas were nice. The hotel is about 15 min away from the city centre, you can take the scenic route along the river. The girls in the restaurant, wellness and the reception were very polite. Overall, we enjoyed our short stay in Magnus, it's a nice place with good wellness, great breakfast and super...
Read moreWe chose this hotel for a one-night stop on our way home from a holiday in Croatia. The hotel’s facilities met and even exceeded our expectations. There was no problem with parking here, the room was extremely spacious and tastefully decorated. We weren’t sure about the restaurant, but the dishes from the a la carte menu and local wine were really great. The staff at both - the hotel and the restaurant -turned out to be young but very attentive and caring. We didn’t have time to enjoy the SPA, but we tried back and shoulder massages. And it was cherry on the pie. Massage specialist Jan performs them really professionally - identifies problem areas in each back or neck and works with them. So if you stay at this hotel, don’t miss the opportunity to book a...
