Frida's Old House — Hotel in Bled

Amazing accommodation with amazing hosts. Luka and his family went above and beyond to welcome us and provide us with all the information we might need. Luka welcomed us with rakija, gave us a map of the area and recommended the best sigthseeing spots, pastry shops, restaurants and even parking spots. Lukas mother prepared us a local dessert called Grmada which was amazing and even better than the one we tried at the local pastry shop and Lukas dad gave us a nice farewell and gifted us a jar of honey locally produced. House we stayed in was built over a 100 years ago and it remained in the same family until this day. It is located in the small quiet village between Bled and Bohinj and it takes a short car drive to get to Bled and about 30 minutes drive to Bohinj. There is a parking spot reserved for every guest. Whole house has been renovated couple of years ago but they kept the original look of the house. They decorated rooms with new furniture and appliances but they choose traditional design of the furniture to keep the authentic look of the house. They also used old furniture and woodwork and remade it into different useful items like wall hangers.There was coffee, tea, milk, cookies and even beer prepared for us in the kitchen. In the hallway of the house you can see decades old family photographs showing their family history and the history of the house which was once not only their family house but it also had a restaurant and a small store at the ground floor. House also containst a small cellar in which you can have a glass of wine provided by the hosts. There is a small creek running next to the house which you can hear from the window and I believe might be connected to the small waterfall located in the village. Everything!!! Immaculately clean and modern interior, not a spec of dirt anywhere. Owners are all brilliant people, kind, informative, engaging, welcoming, very helpful in advising on local things to see and do. Luka's mother is an amazing chef, her welcome dessert was out of this world and very welcomed after a long day of travelling. Apartment was perfectly equipped for anything, including a hearty meal. Everything was very organised, with an amazing aircon unit, which was badly needed in the heat. I'd highly recommend Freida's Old House as it was one of the best places myself and my fiancée have ever stayed. We will definitely return and bring friends, as we have big plans for a Lake Bled wedding in 2026. Also the proximity for the location of Frida's old house to everywhere in Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj was exceptional. I can’t say enough good things about this house! From the moment we arrived, everything felt warm and inviting. The place was spotless, beautifully decorated, and surrounded by stunning nature.

What truly made our stay special were all the thoughtful touches. We were welcomed with plenty of pillows and blankets, some food to enjoy, and even had access to a charming cellar stocked with coffee and wine. We hadn’t planned for snow, but the hosts surprised us with sleds.

Parking was free and convenient, but what really stood out was the incredible hospitality. Our host went above and beyond, sharing the best local spots—where to eat, drink, park in the city, and what’s truly worth experiencing. Their kindness and attention to detail made us feel completely at home.
