We stayed in a Mountain View Double Room in mid September and, compared to other Slovenian hotels we stayed in, the room was on the more depressing end of the scale and the price was at the top end. We came from an excellent hotel in Kranjska Gora (Hotel Lipa) which was cheaper and the room was far nicer, to this hotel with it's smaller, darker room with sparse and dated furniture. It probably made it seem that little bit worse. The downstairs resturant lounge area is nice and modern and a plesant place to be. The staff were all great and very helpful.||The view from the room's window was spectacular, so make sure you go for the 'with Mountain View' rooms to avoid the road side of the hotel. However, in our room, the window was fairly small and you had to make a point of standing at the window to enjoy the view. Much of the window was also blocked by wooden slatting so you could only catch the full view from a quarter of the window.||The room is standard hotel layout and averagely sized, not large but not too cramped. The furniture seemed a couple of decades old and could do with replacing. The bathroom was okay; again, it had seen better days but was clean and the shower pressure was okay. The shower did have a tap which was very easy to knock as you try to maneuver in the small cubicle, resulting in a couple of brief hot blasts. The most annoying thing about the bathroom was the 'smart' mirror. Every time you turn the light on the mirror would play a loud boot-up tune; it became old very fast, especially when you can hear the mirrors from all the nearby rooms playing their jolly jingles whenever a neighbour needs a wee.||One reason we chose the hotel was because it had a resturant and we planned to eat there each night to save venturing out. Unfortunately when we got there we found out that the resturant was only serving a 4-course fixed menu. We had it the first night and it was lovely and reasonably priced (35 euro/person) - top marks. But we didn't need the same meal four nights in a row, so we had to drive somewhere else the other nights. I expect they miss out on a lot of resturant business because of this. (Maybe it was the time of year we went; they might do an a la carte option during high season?)||The included breakfast was fine, the usual Slovenian fare - a plate of eggs cooked your way plus buffet meats, cheeses, strudle, pancakes, cereal, friut, etc. On our final day, which I'm sure is an exception, a large cycle group were having breakfast and it was like a plague of locusts had descended. There was literally nothing to eat and the staff weren't refreshing the buffet. If something was brought out one of the cycle group would swipe it and tuck it away for their packed lunch - it was amusing to watch a lady cut a small slice off the end of a french loaf, and then take...
Read moreMy experience at Boka Forest Bistro was hands down one of the worst I’ve ever had at any restaurant. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with shocking rudeness and hostility. What should have been a pleasant dining experience turned into an uncomfortable ordeal due to the incredibly unprofessional behavior of the the person who appeared to be the boss or manager.
This individual was abrupt, aggressive, and completely lacking in basic courtesy. Rather than offering hospitality, they delivered an attitude that was dismissive, rude, and, frankly, appalling. I have never encountered such an openly hostile and unpleasant manner from someone in a position of leadership in hospitality.
We left the restaurant feeling disrespected and deeply disappointed. There is no excuse for treating guests in such a demeaning way.
There are many wonderful places to eat in the area—this is absolutely not one of them. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere where guests are treated with even a minimum level of respect and...
Read moreWe felt wonderfully hosted at Hotel Boka by Sasha, Anastacia, and the rest of the team. The restaurant waiter (whose name we sadly don’t recall) was also lovely and highly accommodating to our specific dietary requirements. The breakfast was varied and generous. The restaurant has excellent local offerings at a reasonable price level. We felt well fed during our entire 3 day stay.||||The location of the hotel is right next to a short hike to the Boka waterfall and also right next to a popular landing point for river kayak/rafting trips. It is a 10 minute drive into the center of bovec and cezsoka.||||The room size was very large and there was also a large bathroom with a very large bathtub in the deluxe room. The beds and bedding were comfortable. We enjoyed having the balcony, which are available in two of the rooms.||||There was general purpose body wash / shampoo, which wasn’t great as a shampoo option. We would recommend bringing your own shampoo and conditioner.||||Overall, lovely stay that we can...
