Hostel Idrija — Hotel in Idrija

The hostel is a good place to stay for some days, using it as base for excursions, if one does not want to change place every day.

The hostel is located just outside Idrija’s city centre, which is reachable in few minutes walking distance. Also a supermarket is nearby (less than 5 minutes on foot). Free parking slots are available just in from of the structure.

The facility is very clean, from room to the shared bathrooms and showers.

The rooms are spacious. If sensitive to light and noise, I would suggest to take with you eye mask and earplugs. A big kitchen is available, as some table and chairs on the terrace. Drinks available when the reception is open.

The staff is friendly and pets are allowed and welcomed.

I stayed in this hostel only for a night before going to ski at Cerkno (30 minutes drive away from the hostel) the next day. This hostel is located up high in the hills above the centre of Idrija and not great if you don't come with your own car. The building is quiet old, from the communist time, and it is some kind of youth centre/part time hostel. It feels very empty, cold, without character, with long corridors. Room felt a bit cold but the bed was very comfortable and the staff was great. They even waited for me to arrive at almost midnight. L'ostello è in una bella posizione, dalla quale si riesce ad arrivare in centro in cinque minuti facendo una scalinata. Il prezzo che si paga è sicuramente molto contenuto rispetto a quello di un albergo, e a me hanno anche fatto un piccolo sconto perché rimanevo per un periodo prolungato. C'ero stato anche un anno fa e, anche se devo dire che pure prima non era niente male, la nuova gestione, nel rinnovarlo, sta facendo un gran bel lavoro. Camere pulite, con lenzuola e asciugamano compresi, Wi-Fi molto veloce e che non ha mai dato problemi, cucina, che ho apprezzato moltissimo e con a disposizione un po' di pentolame, piatti, bicchieri e strumenti vari (uddio, non sarà la cucina di Cracco ma il suo lo fa :-) ), e sala studio (o lettura, o per giocare a carte, o quello che si vuole) molto accogliente e luminosa. Ma il meglio di quest'ostello è il personale. La gestione nuova è di un centro per la gioventù, sono ragazzi del posto che oltre ad essere molto simpatici e disponibili sapranno anche dare dei buoni consigli su dove mangiare, cosa fare e cosa vedere. E da vedere c'è parecchio, pur essendo la città piuttosto piccola se confrontata con mete turistiche più gettonate, come Lubiana o altre. È una città con una storia da raccontare, legata soprattutto ad un passato minerario ma non solo, oltre ad essere circondata da una natura spettacolare ed accessibile (sentieri molto ben tenuti, dislivelli alla portata più o meno di tutti...), e l'ostello è in una posizione abbastanza strategica per esplorare i dintorni. Per chi viene in macchina c'è anche un parcheggio esterno. Tirando le somme, non posso che dire bene di questo posto e di questa città meravigliosa, quasi una perla nascosta, che consiglio davvero a tutti...
