Sobe Stara Lipa Tašner, Ksenija Tašner s.p. — Hotel in Maribor

If I could give this hotel more than five stars, I would not hesitate.

Although at first at I was a bit concerned about the booking, mainly for its location, my stay with the Tašner was full of excellent, heartwarming surprises.

Having arrived to Maribor, I have figured that the city has much more to offer than its center, and if it comes to me, it's wild and nature side is much for interesting. Also, staying with the Tašners gives you the possibility to enjoy both aspects of Maribor. Hop on the bus number 6 in the city center, and it will drop you just in front of the hotel in barely 15 minutes. That way you will enjoy the beautiful mountains of Pohorje, from your room, and the beautiful garden with the smell of flowers, the singing birds and the hanging grapes.

But it would say these are only details. This Guest house is a family run business, from a hard working grandfather to a hard working grandson. There are no "staff", only family members devoted to what they do, the owners will be the ones cooking and serving breakfast for you, all in a family loving spirit atmosphere which makes this hotel one of a kind.

However, to those of you who may not interested in the human experience, the rooms are very clean; towels, shampoo and a hair dryer are provided, the bed is comfortable, the breakfast is good and the Tašner are very accomodating.

The place is located a few hundred meters from Maribor's largest ski resort. It is also quite close to downtown (about 7 mins by car or double that by bus). The guesthouse can be clearly noticed from the street, hence it is technically impossible to miss it. We were welcomed by a lady, who sorted out keys and procured paperwork for us. It took about 4 minutes, and chocolate bonbons were offered meantime. The room was very comfortable and featured fully equipped bathroom (FYI - body wash and soap are normally stored next to the hairdryer in the storage place under the sink). The balcony was also in place, however, due to rather rainy weather we were not able to use it. I would like to also complement late check-out, which was not pre-arranged by us, however, was provided at request without any extra payment. Onsite parking comes for free. We stayed 1 night at the guesthouse with our 2.5 year old. We did not make any reservation since we were traveling by car, not sure how far we would get. The owner was very friendly and right away looking if she would be able to give us a room with an extra bed for our son. Everything was arranged within minutes, which we really appreciated. The room was clean with all facilities necessary. The room had a balcony to get some fresh air since it was very hot and also airconditioning in the room was present. The price is great for the quality and service we received! Only point of improvement in my view is if they could offer early breakfast as well. You could book breakfast but it was available from 08:30h which was too late for us. We stayed at this guest house twice in the past 3 years and would definitely return for...
