So, we stayed for the night and had an issue with the shower yesterday. The drain didn’t work, so when my daughter took a shower it gained the full weight of water and when she opened the shower door, the water spilled into the bathroom and flooded all the floor, starting to spill out to the room. I removed the drain cover and it was full of the hair… so no wonder it didn’t work. I called reception for 3 times, but nobody picked up, so I had to go down to the reception. The receptionist, Nina Verovshik (sorry if I spelled it wrong) met me, and I asked if the phone works, because I called and nobody replied. She said it should work, but didn’t know why it didn't ring. I described the issue and she asked what she could do for me. I asked for another room, but she said the hotel was fully booked. So I asked “what am I supposed to do in the flooded room?”. She promised to clarify this (without rushing to solve the problem as if she didn’t hear I’ve just said there’s a food in the room). I said, that’s good, of course, but what an I supposed to do in a flooded room NOW? (I mean, there’s literally a lake in the bathroom, and that’s not my carpet soaking, so I couldn’t care less, but still…) I then asked the receptionist to come with me to show the room. She replied she couldn’t leave her working place. I was surprised, and said “you can't leave your workplace but didn’t manage to pick up the phone in an emergency?” to which she replied “is there anything I did to you?”
Emmm, excuse me? What’s the attitude? What is the implication of this irrelevant statement? I’m not interested in figuring out whose fault that was or who did what, or any inappropriate overtones. I’m interested in solving the issue. I understand the receptionist didn’t do anything. But of course I'm still mad. Not with her. But with the situation itself, with the staff haven’t done its job properly, and service of the hotel, where she is a receptionist and currently the only one who can solve the issue. And now in addition her attitude. Was it so surprising I was unhappy? Really? What was I supposed to be, delighted? Or has she never seen dissatisfied guests before? Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t it her job to solve issues if any and be able to interact with dissatisfied guests?
Anyways, I sad no, you didn’t do anything, but somebody who had to also did nothing what supposed to (meaning staff). And she replied “what can I do for you?” Oh, come on, really? Cleaning at least. Asap. Please.
(The gentleman who brought me towels was very sweet though 😁) And yes, the room was not even cleaned, I was just brought the towels and told to throw them on the floor to soak the water…
The matter is I was exhausted after a day trip, otherwise I would demand a compensation or even a full refund. Absolutely...

Read moreI stayed here on a three night business trip: selection was based on: brand; cost; location to where I would be working (which was not in the centre of the city). The review is based on those criteria.||Located to the north of the city, and with quick access from the ring road to the north, this is a modern Holiday Inn with ample on-site car parking, with drop-off to the front and overnight parking (with hotel access) to the rear. Check in was quick, staff were polite and efficient and I was soon on my way to my second floor room.||The rooms are of a decent size, comfortable bed, tea / coffee facilities, iron and board and a good sized TV (which I never switched on). As stated in other reviews, furnishing is a bit minimalistic, and although the desk was adequate, there is really only hanging space for clothes, it was quite reminiscent of a Scandinavian business hotel. The bathroom was great, good shower and lots of hot water. It did have one of these large, shallow, sinks, I'm not a fan, especially if the plug mechanism was erratic (in my case). Although my room faced the front, I was not really aware of any traffic (noise).||Breakfast, included, is served from 0700, and was really quite good (better than I was expecting). Also downstairs is a small, comfortable 24/7 bar. Not a huge choice of drinks, but more than enough to please.||The one thing to be aware of though is that the hotel does not serve dinner, and it is a bit remote. There is a good coffee shop next door, but the nearest food is about a 15 minute walk away, and that is for fast-food type stuff. Bistros or restaurants are closer to a 30 minute walk (it takes 30-35 minutes to walk to downtown). I knew that beforehand, and quite like walking, so for me it wasn't an issue. And of course the room rate is competitive compared to the hotels nearer the centre. There's also no gym, and I do like a gym where I'm staying.||So if you aware of those limitations, but want a modern, comfortable place to stay at a competitive rate, this really is a...
