Golden Lantern TOWN Lodge — Hotel in Bela Bela Local Municipality

My family and I stayed here as the first stop of our road trip. All of the staff are so friendly and helpful, we instantly felt relaxed and at home.

The rooms were extremely spacious and the whole accommodation was spotless. We had everything we needed to be completely self sufficient.

The communal area with the pool table, seating, extra kitchen facilities, swimming pool and toilets worked perfectly. It has a very traditional feel to it, with loads of quirky furniture and artifacts to look at while enjoying the sunshine. I love they way things have been recycled into useful furniture and beautiful decorations.

Although Bela-Bela is considered a tourist destination as it is ideally located as a weekend get away for people from Johannesburg and Pretoria. This is a fabulous destination to see real life in South Africa, in a small town. It is also a great stop off destination before heading to Kruger National Park or travelling further North.

We had a fabulous 4 days here as there is so much to see and do. We could have stayed longer and still not seen everything.

I would highly recommend The Golden Lantern as a place to stay for it's convenience to Johannesburg Airport and all it has to offer in the area. Weather you are backing, need an over night stay or somewhere to explore for a few days. This place offers everything...

What a terrible service I have received in this lodge. I complained last night that the blanket they gave us is dirty I sent them pictures on WhatsApp, nobody attend to that. I called to ask for an iron, the reception lady told me that I should come and get it myself, she just gave me an iron with out an ironing board. I complained to her, that why she asked me to collect an iron, why they can't bring, and she told me it's just an iron, (where is hospitality and professional service) no value for money. I told her that our blanket we found it dirty and I complained last night and nobody attended to that, she said I'll check, I told her I'm not happy with the service we are getting, she just said ok. We always choose this lodge when we come to Bela Bela, but I don't see myself coming here again. I can't be made to feel like I'm being done a favor, and yet I paid to be here, and there is lot of options around to choose from. This has to change or else it will negatively affect this business. We stayed in a 6 person chalet at the Golden Lantern Lodge and it was great value for money at that peak season of December. At first we were not too sure because of the modest, foresty and oldish appearances of the place. Bit we fell in love as soon as we were unpacked and ready to enjoy. The lodge is very well kept and rooms cleaned daily. The bedding is super clean and a joy to sleep in. The kitchen is very well resourced and the dining table and bench were just perfect for our meal times and for the game of scrabble we also managed to squeeze in to our vacation.
