Hoogland Spa Family Resort — Hotel in Bela Bela Local Municipality

We made a group booking. We were a family of 21 people in total and obviously only 1 person made the booking. Check in is at 2pm . We arrived at about 1: 30 in the afternoon. Our room was not ready but it was fine since we were a bit early. The housekeeping lady only finished with our room at 3pm. We went in only to find the counter still filthy with dried food from the previous visitors. We had to call her back to clean again. Later during the day we discovered the very small fridge which was in a 3 bedroom chalet was not working. We were not upset at first and the same guy came more than once to check the fridge. Everytime he came and said it was fine but it wasn't. I think on the second day I went to the lady who manages the place and told her what a huge inconvenience it was and instead of apologizing she gets upset and tells me we had an hour after the handyman left to come back and tell her again if the fridge wasn't working. In the first place she should have made sure everything was in order. She also told me that our fridge was overpacked, yet this is a 3 bedroom meant for big families are u not expecting us to have more food and drink. Already the place is old and outdated and needs a huge upgrade the least she could have done was be nice and upologetic about it. Instead she goes to the person who made the booking acting like we did not pay and completely brushes me off and not acknowledge that we are the ones with the fridge problem and not person who made the booking. It's as if we had no say because the booking was not made by us but yet we payed and mind u we payed the most because the 3 bedroom chalet was much more expensive. I do not recommend this place and I urge anybody who is considering it to not even bother. The cleaning staff cleans half all my other family members complained about dried food on dishes in their units and 1 also had an issue with the toilet not flushing at some point. And if u dare complain than that fool white woman so-called manager gets rude who doesn't know anything about service. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS NASTY FILTHY PLACE. They also only have 1 tiny pool, basically it doesn't deserve the title resort because it absolutely offers nothing. I have booked self catering at warmbaths previously and it was way better. Oh and I almost forgot the stove as well is slow as hell u will have better luck frying your eggs outside in the sun. Everything is outdated and that rude woman doesn't help so u can't even say at least the service was good because it wasn't. Would never return there and I definitely will go to...

If you love face brick and tiles and 100% synthetic duvet covers, then this is the place for you. We hate face brick and we have 800 threadcount percale at home, so perhaps this was just a bad choice on our part. Hastily booked (just one night, arrive late, leave early), we weren't concentrating on details, our bad, but even so there are things to be aware of. The aircon is in the 'lounge', not in the bedroom; the lounge gets cool(ish), the bedroom does not. The hosts provide nothing, nada, zippo -- no teabags, no sugar, no milk. The 'spa' is in a decaying part of town next to a municipal building of some sort -- a padlocks and wallspikes kinda place. The 'sofa' in the lounge is actually cushions on top of a facebrick 'bench' cleverly positioned so that binoculars would be needed to watch TV (we didn't turn it on). Even the bedside tables are built out of facebrick! Finally, there was only enough hot water for one quick shower (I went second, the shower was cold). Alarmingly, a sign on the wall said, "If you need water, call [number]." Thankfully we didn't need to call but it didn't inspire confidence. Hoogland spa advertises this place as child friendly and a relaxing getaway which is completely the opposite. We had people partying away playing loud music the whole day and into the night using a boom box until 12 at night. The rules of the spa specifically say no music and no noise after 10 pm at night yet the boom box was set up for the other residents at 11pm at night. The second day/night was even worse as we had music on either side of us playing the whole day and again into the night until 12. Even going to the spa to try have a facial or a massage, all we could hear was the music booming so honestly how is anyone supposed to relax with that? We were told this happens every weekend despite us calling prior to say we have little kids and are looking for a quiet weekend away.
