Impa-Lala Country Estate — Hotel in Free State

Planned to stay 2 nights but checked out after 1. 'Presidential' suite was hardly adequate, the dstv didn't work properly and the huge pool featured prominently on promotional photos is not open for usage by guests. Aside from that this place really makes you feel like an intruder who's sneaking around on the property instead of a paying guest who's supposed to be comfortable. I ordered a takeaway, had to fetch it by the main gate, and was promptly interrogated at the gate by some grumpy old guy who I'm assuming is the owner of the place (never introduced himself). I was asked how I got a remote and was then lectured about opening the gate properly as if I'm some idiot. Then later I made the mistake of taking an evening stroll after dinner and security was immediately sent my way to interrogate me to ask what I'm doing. Quite frankly, this place won't...

I took a chance booking a place online with never having stayed there before. I've been burnt this way very recently, but I can honestly say not this time. What an amazing place to stay. The room was modern, clean, crisp and very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Friendly team that operates the place and we were made to feel at home as soon as we arrived. Next time I'll stay for longer just to experience all they have to offer - definitely...

Tents are very nice, bathroom is even better than expected. The aircon is a nice addition to the place as temperatures can be extreme. Parking is secure and the breakfast room has a great veiw. Staff service is very good. In all I would recommend as a stop over. Two improvements would be a headboard for the bed as the pillows disappear during the night and filter coffee...
