Accommodation @ Glen Gory Manor guesthouse — Hotel in Gauteng

We had originally booked 2 rooms at Dove's Nest Lodge by the airport in Jo'burg (See review), but upon arrival there at 2300, we were advised they did not have room for us. This in spite of having booked the rooms for that night, two later nights on our return from Moz, as well as a day-tour. ||In any event, we were picked up at Dove's Nest by Michael, who drove us back to Glen Gory. GG is located about 8 km from the airport in a residential/agricultural area. ||As soon as you drive through the gates, you immediately realize this is no "average" B&B. The property is breathtaking: The house is huge, the gardens beautifully landscaped, with a small farm adjoingin the house with ostriches and cattle.||The property has basically just begun operations and is currently being run by Delene and her daughter Madelene (with Delene's husband, Michael, helping out with late-night airport pickups) and these folks are about as nice as you're going to find anywhere in thre world! I have to say they were also very professional in that they were apologizing on behalf of Dove's Nest and not seeking to capitalize on their problem. Very nice folks.||The house currently only has 2 double rooms upstairs and one mega-room which is actually two sleeping rooms (huge) with an adjoining kitchen and bathroom. But, beleive it or not, outside of this living area is the indoor-heated swimming pool! (Plus billiard and darts). These two rooms were 560 Rand total, with breakfast. The two other seperate double rooms were 400 each with breakfast. (if I remember correctly).||The breakfast was fantastic and home-cooked, restaurant quality dinner was available for 60 Rand (?). Madelene also took the time to drive us to one of the nicest malls at a cost that could not have covered her gas and time expense: Thank You!||||If you are looking for a place to overnight or stay a few days in Jo'burg (Airport pickup available) then I can't imagine you will find a better place than this, or nicer people than these folks. We were pleasantly surprised by the all high standards and quality of accommodation - though it is called a B&B, it could easily have passed for a very good hotel. This B&B is situated just outside of town in a beautiful setting.
