A friend of mine booked some family here a while back and I had a look at the place then. It is real value for money and centrally located, so it was a place that I would reccomend. Unfortunately we didnt have a pleasent expericne the last time when I actually recommended the place to another friend of mine who was travelling for business and only needed a place to crash for the night. I went to pick him up early the next morning around 4.35am to make it for a 6am flight to Durban. The key broke inside the lock, inside his room and he was unable to exit the room. I asked the front desk person Philani to assist and his response was that he did not have a spare key for the room which took me by surprise. The door was old and was almost ajar - with only say 10% of the lever/lock keeping the door closed. We managed to open it without damaging the door or lock. I explained to Philani that we needed to get him out of the room asap as we needed to catch a flight for 2 people. He was more concerned about the broken key and asked us to pay R50 to replace they key. He was not intersted that we could miss the flight - but was more interested in the broken key. He was not clear in his communciation and he actually wanted us to pay the R50 before we left. Had I known this, I would have paid the R50 immediately so that we would not have wasted more time. I found it to be a very bad experience, poor service, poor communication skills, not going the extra mile, etc. The key broke and they asked us to pay for poor quality materials in their establishment. That's like taking an Uber and when it breaks down on the side of the road the driver says you cannot leave or get a another car until you pay for breakdown, be it a flat tyre or a blown engine. Absolutely ridiclous! This is how you may have a good business and good pricing in a good location - but lose...
Read moreI stayed at Ecotel since last year December & now it 2023, everything was okay until last like 3 weeks back, one of their stuff members stole my ID after cleaning our room, & I asked her about it & she said she didn’t, mind you before she cleaned my ID was there, then when I called her to clean.. it disappeared after she finished cleaning. I complained & complained but nothing was done . I then decided to let it go. Now 5 days back!? The lady named Akhona & a cleaner named Bongekile started acting funny with us & they told us to leave the place, “apparently” because someone complained! They said “if you guys don’t feel safe here then leave”. I believe this mess happened cause we laid many complaints. They evicted every woman at the premises without the owners knowledge, they took matters to their own hands, because I called the head office & I asked them about the eviction of woman at the place, they said they know nothing about people being evicted. I was surprised because that Lady Akhona & Bongekile had said this idea comes from the head office and owner himself. After getting evicted after staying there for months, my friend’s boyfriend decided to book a room & he did for himself and later he had to leave, do you know what those two woman did? They took away the key from us and took us out while me & my friend were taking a shower, they opened the door so widely “as naked as we were” ! Then they said “Mohammed is coming and he says he doesn’t want to find you here or he’ll throw you guys out himself”. All I want to know is why were we Ill treated after being loyal customers/clients and why do they feel the need to hate on other black women. I’m not done. Ecotel Midrand stuff has attitude and we never say anything about the...
Read moreYou know the saying "looks can be deceiving"? Well that's the case with Ecotel Midrand. It's situated in a nice area. That's the only upside to this establishment. Receptionist Darlington looked like he was forced to come to work. Gave us terrible directions to our room. The room was rather tiny. They did a slap-dash job with those rooms. The shower was horrible. The water pressure was very low. Water came out in droplets. We had to remove the shower head to get a decent water pressure. I spent literally 7mins trying to get the right water temperature. The water was either too hot or freezing cold. The sink is so tiny you can't even wash your hands( and mind you I have very small hands). The tv didn't have a remote. No wifi!! In 2022 there's no free wifi at a hotel??? What a joke. There was no tea/coffee station. And that make shift wardrobe is hideous. Only one side of the bed has a night stand. The window handle is broken. No Aircon. Walls are very thin. Gosh I can go on and on. Utterly...
