I stayed at the Mercure Hotel in Midrand for the week, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The lift didn’t work, the TV remote did not work, the TV channels was net set properly, and the complimentary bottle of water was only provided on the first day, after that, you have to buy your own. My sleep was also disturbed by a very noisy room aircon. Made strange loud noise thought the night. Maybe you should get someone in, as the aircons is in need for one major service! For such an old building, one would expect attention to detail and that extra mile to stay competitive and keep clients happy. Overall, the service and amenities felt substandard, far below what you'd expect, even compared to a basic Town Lodge Hotel. Not all bad thou, what I can compliment is the breakfast. So compliments to the kitchen staff. But still, I am glad my stay is over, and this hotel has definitely made it onto my “never again” list. For location I gave a 1 star - never have seen so much traffic light either missing or not working in a 20 km radius. The council is not doing businesses in the area any favours!

Very nice budget hotel. Room was neat and clean. Came with kettle, cups teas and coffees and little milk sachets. Breakfast is not included in the room rate and costs R160 per person. It's a small buffet layout with sufficient offerings including sausages and bacon. Service was good although housekeeping staff were chatting very loud at 08:00 in the morning on both days that we stayed. This was a little annoying as it woke us up after a late night out. Rooms were small but it's expected for the price we paid. The shower door did not seal at the bottom and this caused the bathroom to flood everytime we took a shower. The door also didn't open fully as the toilet was in the way. Very poorly designed. Some rooms are smoking so we could get the smell in our room. The extractor fan in our bathroom also didn't work so we were left with a steam choked shower. Overall good experience. Would visit again just for the price.

The hotel is in a great location for me in Midrand Gallagher. It stands out for its breakfasts and friendly staff. The rooms are quiet, the carpets are a bit old but overall peaceful to sleep in. The sheets and pillowcases smelled clean every time I stayed. It is a pity that there is not a pen, paper, churchkey and disposable slippers ready in the room. Because the price I paid is not cheap.

All the switches are broken, plug points not working, switches not working, no room service, room phone not working, the sofa is torn. Never choose this hotel if you are coming with family. Front office too not friendly. Not greeting the customers.

Responding Mr.Stanley : Thanks for your response sir. This morning ( you might be aware of the water issue), there was no water. We checked with front office. We got 3 water bottles for our use. We waited for water in the bathroom but no use. We went out and while returning ,the bathroom water was not that clean. We asked for drinking water. Got 2 bottles. We used for our coffee n for the kid. When we asked for 2 more bottles after some time, we were told that we have to pay if we ask again. We decided not to ask at the reception again as the response was bit rude.Kindly take care of your guests during unusual situations. And pls note : we couldn't get the front office on phone dialling...
