Disappointing Stay – Felt Like Uninvited Guests

Our experience at this guest house was unfortunately far from what we expected. From the moment we arrived, we felt more like intruders than welcomed guests. The property itself was unappealing, with a dilapidated swimming pool and an unattended garden that gave the property a neglected feel. We were also restricted from exploring the grounds due to loud, intimidating barking from the resident dogs.

The bedroom looked nothing like the photos advertised online. The washing basin was blocked, and we were told to notify an hour in advance if we wanted hot water—so they could switch on the geyser. Even then, the water was always lukewarm.

On our first morning, we were surprised to learn that breakfast was not included, despite our expectations. To make matters worse, we were woken up by a noisy generator, which disrupted any chance of a peaceful morning.

Our stay was just of an overnight. The arrival was so easy and quick. We had a boat with us, and Gordon was very helpful and accommodating, seeing that it was well and safely stored on the property. The room was very large with plenty of storage spaces. The bed was a queen, which was very important to us. Although the ensuite bathroom didn't have a shower, we had our own shower just across the hall, which wasn't an issue. It was really good to be able to have coffee before bed in the room. I was able to work as well, as the room had a very large table. ||||Breakfast was a huge treat for me, and so delicious. Gordon prepares everything fresh and is mindful of the guests' preferences. ||||There is such a rich history to the bed and breakfast, as well as this family's life, spread around the establishment, which for me was a joy to see. We had a wonderful stay! The rooms aren't too bad and the beds are comfortable. There are fridges in the rooms as well, so bring your coffee, sugar, and milk with. The bathroom is open, but there is a communal shower down the hall. Rooms have doors that go outside with a small braai area. Smoking sections are also available, and there is a bar.
