Marathon lodge — Hotel in Gauteng

The only good thing about this lodge is that it has a nice spacious area to hang with friends, braai and enjoy the view. The rest is a negative. From the guy at the reception who cannot explain thoroughly and just gives one word answers, not welcoming at all and does not know much information about the place he’s working at. No one changes the sheets nor do they clean the rooms. We were not allowed to even cook mere pap because we wanted to braai some meat and eat with pap instead of buying takeaways (the lodge seemed convenient because it’s literally a house). We asked the guy a day earlier and he said we can cook but when it was time, we had to made endless phone calls to the manager who kept telling us stories about electricity and how he’ll call us back but never did. My personal belonging was stolen in my room Sunday and I immediately requested for a footage to see who entered my room but they told us they don’t know the password and we should wait for the manager. It’s been three days and I have been calling none stop, no one answers including the manager itself. It’s VERY FRUSTRATING!!!! I NEED TO SEE THE FOOTAGE. ||||I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE BIG ON HYGIENE, HOSPITALITY AND GREAT...

Not at all like their pics make the place out to be. Shower door couldn't even close in our bathroom, the glass of the shower door itself was cracked into pieces, the door to the room had a mirror on it shattered that looked like it had been punched. Both beside tables were broken, and broken cement and mould all over the doorway to our room. The bedlinen didn't fill me with confidence as to cleanliness either. The guy checking us in was beyond useless (we probably stood for 15 min just trying to get across to him who we were and that we were checking in). We both instinctively grabbed hand sanitizer as we got back to the car, and needless to say we turned around and left, and have found somewhere else to stay...

I had a good time while I was there. The lodge has about 8 rooms available. There is also a swimming pool available. They do allow last minute booking based on availability and you can also make booking through their website. The staff members were friendly and made sure I was comfortable and aware of the services the lodge has. They did that before I made payment. The rooms have basic TV, toiletries and hot water. I was disappointed with the parking space though, the parking bays within the yard...
