Brenton Park is a beautiful place, but it's residential, so you'll get the same vibe that you'll get in a predominantly white neighborhood,no vibe at all. It is best to use it as a base to explore the greater Knysna.Residents are of the older generation, so if you have children that are more 'fun loving', the situation can become contentious.
