Ocean View Lodge — Hotel in George

where to start|its shabby run down weeds everywhere, needs a paint job windows are filthy the fridge smells and is rusty.We booked on Booking.com late in the day, got immediate confirmation, arrived to the total shock and |stunned stunned amazment of a couple eating their dinner and not at all prepared for us. Much confusion. Phones owner who is equally confused and demands to know to know where I'm from( what does that have to do with it) the place was empty. We were showed the wrong room , finally getting a better room with NO view of the sea, a dirty fridge that smelt. Very unprofessional and this is the high season.|And yuk, worse fishmoths| and stains...

I only stayed one night but everything was pristine. The room was sea facing and spotless. Although I did not request dinner or breakfast I was late in arriving and my host delivered a lovely platter for me to enjoy in my room.||The view from anywhere at the Lodge is breathtaking. I also enjoyed a walk on the fynbos trail which affords a beautiful view of the coastline as well as information on different plants and shrubs having markers all along the walk.||The staff and management were friendly...

It was our 1st time staying at the Lodge & it was quite peaceful, restful & we enjoyed very much. |The Lodge is under new management so quite alot has been renovated & they have lovely bathrooms, comfy beds...though warmer winter blankets & heater or electric blankets in winter would be most welcome.|A kitchenette would be nicer in the suite/room with interleading door to another room...with a small fridge & microwave for a family especially.|We had a lovely stay overall &...
