Gasteria Grange — Hotel in George

We stumbled across Gasteria Grange whilst looking for somewhere to stay overnight in the lovely Calitzdorp, at very short notice. The property is in town and very close to a number of lovely wineries, including Boplaas & De Krans. We appreciated an early check in and were shown around the lovely property and our cottage by our hosts. We were also greeted on arrival by Romeo the owner's dog, who was a real highlight of our visit. The cottage was very well equipped with everything we needed, including a great range of books and very nice indoor and outdoor seating areas. We spent the late afternoon sitting on the porch enjoying some wine & cheese, watching the sun set. The property was quiet and the beds very comfortable, and we ate some of our hosts delicious home-made preserves with our breakfast. We really appreciated the thoughtful homely touches, such as the fresh milk in the fridge, rusks / biscuits and the local yummy grapes dropped off by our hosts. An absolute gem of a guest house! From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. Colleen and Kevin are exceptional hosts, they are warm, generous, and has a wealth of local knowledge. We were spoiled with homemade treats like traditional “melkkos,” freshly baked bread, and delicious homemade jams and chutneys.
