Hildesheim Guest Lodge — Hotel in George

We arrived to a very warm and personal welcome by Tony and Vanessa. We were shown to Garden Cottage 1 in a beautiful setting overlooking lush lawns and trees with the Outeniqua Mountains forming a perfect background. Once inside we found ourselves surrounded by luxury ! The accommodation was spotlessly pristine, the bed was kingsize with designer bedlinen and most comfortable. A well-equipped kitchen with guest beverage pack, excellent shower and bathrooms with guest bathroom amenities made up a recipe for a thoroughly contented and delightful stay. What peace and tranquility; it was wonderful ! We could have stayed forever !! Our hosts were available at all times to help us with tourist information and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had one breakfast towards the end of our stay and it was so delicious that we were sorry not to have had it every day. We must mention their "Public Relations Officer" in the form of a delightfully friendly Bassett Hound, Candice, who checked with us regularly for some quality affection time. In summary, if you are looking for a quiet place to stay, but also close to the attractions of the Wilderness/Sedgefield/George areas, you will not find anything better than Hildesheim, with cheesecake voted the best in the world, a mere 600 metres away ! We will certainly never consider any other place to stay when we visit these...

Location is in Hoekwil above the Wilderness lagoons. Hosts Steve and Charmaine were wonderful and went above and beyond to make our 3 night stay wonderful. The property is large beautifully landscaped and oh so quiet!!! If you are looking for peace and tranquility this is the spot, without a doubt! We rented Garden suite 1 and it had everything we could want. the bed was incredibly comfortable, huge made up with crisp linen. The whole property was clean and immaculate. the Garden suite has everything you could want from great WIFI, Netflix, a fridge and a kettle. Towels are changed everyday and they are huge and fluffy! Sitting on the private patio sipping a glass of wine and enjoying in the silence that is Hoekwil was truly magical. On hosts recommendation we ate at the Rambling Rose Steakhouse located very nearby (Best steak I have ever eaten!!)and even sampled some of Hoekwil's famous cheese cake at the Corner Restaurant. The Garden suite is not self catering, but there are other self catering options on the property. Please be aware that these wonderful people do offer an ad on breakfast option should you wish to dine on the property. Just chat to Steve or Charmaine to arrange this. We had a wonderfully relaxing time at the self catering cottage! We were spoiled with a beautiful view and some special bird sightings!! Saw the beautiful Knysna Loerie as well as a mother peahen with chicks!! What made the stay especially pleasant, was the friendly attitude of Tony who made us feel very welcome. He was a wonderful source of information and advice on where to find what in the area as well as a word of caution about the sea and safety. Apart from that our cottage was serviced daily!! That was a real treat for us - especially not having to worry too much about the housekeeping department!! Help from management was always available no matter how big or small the problem!! Although the cottage itself might be much improved with a few changes in the kitchen and shower, we still find that the positive aspects far outweigh the negative ones.
