Good Day Buckleigh Guest House
I posted this review 2 years ago expressing my view on the level of service I received when I stayed there for two nights. I must mention that this was the last time I or anyone in the company I work for have ever stayed at your Guest House. I only rated the place without a review to spare you the embarrassment and now two years later you respond calling me childish???? Well you wanted to know why we no longer stay there, while we still have representatives down in Durban at least four time a month so here goes: The receptionist for one in very incompetent, I made a booking, made payment and while driving down from JHB I phone to confirm and she still manage to mess the reservation up. The shower is absolutely filthy, the carpet in the room looks like it have not seen a vacuum cleaner in a long time as there is piles of dust on the edges and corners. I was woken up twice to move my vehicle after I have asked if it was ok to park there. The directions that the receptionist give was so confusing I manage to drive past the place a couple of time before I manage to find the entrance. The cupboard in the room is filthy I could not hang my shirts there. These are just the things I could remember, so if you would like to call me childish for that then you need a good hard look in the mirror because you are definitely not worth the stars you were awarded...
Read moreDefinitely wouldn't recommend this accommodation for families or anyone who has a certain standard of living. The pool area was the only positive part of this experience. The inside room was dark, gloomy and smelly. The "family room" has the smoking area where I had to repetitively ask 2 guests to stop smoking weed by the door as we had kids with us. Their response was " but we've been smoking here all week". Simply indicating poor management from the guest house. The bedding and the couches didn't look clean at all. The rooms do not look like the pictures on the website. The common area kitchen was terrible!!!! Not only dirty but not maintained. The same sanitary towel packet was in the living room area for more than 16 hours and yet I was told " sorry the place is mess the cleaners are still busy". R2400 for 2 rooms in comparison to R4000 for 7 rooms per night at an air bnb which was clean and kid friendly. Which is where we moved to as we couldn't stay another night. Definitely wasn't worth it, the location being Durban north I expected...
Read moreThe welcome at reception when we checked in was amazing, and we really felt like we were at home away from home. However, what we were NOT made aware of before we booked, was that there was a bachelorette party booked in at the guest house at the same time and they played LOUD, THUMPING music until after 11pm. We couldn't sleep properly and had to get up early to do the ECR Big Walk. And there was a horrendous noise in our room as well, at intervals of about every 10-20 minutes - it sounded like there was a blockage in the pipes or something that was trying to break loose, and this LOUD noise droned on all through the night, making for very broken sleep. We couldn't report it to anyone as there was no-one around on duty, and we left early in the morning so didn't see anyone to...
