Mallorca — Hotel in KwaZulu-Natal

I knew that we were going to love staying at #16 Mallorca just from the pre-visit experience with owners Rob and Mandy. Such warmth, efficiency and great customer service!

The unit is beautifully done up and each room has pretty little touches. Well maintained and clean - it is obvious that a lot of thought and design had gone into making sure a family has all the comforts for a seaside holiday.

The entire resort as a whole is beautiful and situated right on the beach. Everyone we encountered as staff were welcoming and friendly. There is a well maintained pool with a braai area. Security is good and parking ample. The unit does have its own gas braai.

We enjoyed the privacy of our unit. The monkeys are regular visitors - just be on guard. I had left my coffee on the balcony table and went back in for two minutes and when I returned, there was this chap happily munching on my biscuits and sipping my coffee. Not much of a nuisance though and they are expected to be around leafy coastal areas. The resort does have signage asking guests not to feed them.

If you could describe perfection, it would be the view. The 5am sunrise is just breathtaking and even more stunning is when the dolphins swim by. There is also a deck from the main bedroom which gives you beautiful views of the ships at...

A tad disappointing, considering the great reviews. Much smaller than the photos make you believe. It was nonetheless comfortable and we made the most of our stay there. There was absolutely nothing provided, as described, ie salt, pepper, oil. No extra toilet paper. Both the basins were blocked. There was a toilet in the bedroom, pretty much next to the bed, that was not closed in. The photos didn't clearly show this aspect. There was also no welcome, or a call or message from our host to check in on us in the 5 nights spent there. We have stayed in much nicer air bnbs in Cape Town at a lesser cost and far better properties and amenities. I believe that this property is overrated.

There is definitely need for improvement/upgrade, as we noted rust on the stove and elsewhere, which is understandable, considering the location.

Wow...best ever...the apartment was so clean...it had everything including cutlery, utensils, detergents, towels, soaps they even had braai coal...i didn't use anything off mine except my toothbrush and paste(and own clothes ofcourse)....the view was breath taking...the property so well maintained and right across the beach...the manager was the best ever...so friendly.. we didn't have to wait to get checked in...and she told us we dont have to rush wen checking out..the price is so cheap for this posh place...i didn't know durban is so beautiful...i felt like I was in a 5 star resort somewhere abroad...thanks so mch for a grate...
