After searching around for something a little special, we came across McGregor and Lucky Crane Villas by chance, searching on Google Earth. After contacting Lucky Crane, and struck up a conversation with Annie and Mo, we were convinced that we had found what we were looking for.|This place is a little off the beaten track and a car is essential, but well worth the effort. The standard of accommodation is something else and nothing has been spared, and needs to be experienced. We had initially booked direct one of the smaller villas, The little Swift. We got contacted to let us know prior to arrival, should we accept it, to give us a free upgrade to one of the larger villas, The Red Bishop, due to building work near the originally booked. We accepted of course...but they are all amazing villas in a stunning location, which makes you feel you are in the outback.|The villas have been done to a very high standard, and have beautiful finishings, from furniture to trusted brand of appliances etc etc. The kitchen is really well equipped, and there is a built in braai on the back decking/garden area. |We stayed for 3 days, but wish we had stayed much longer. The staff we met was local to McGregor and was very friendly. The villas have good security and ample off street parking.|We really loved the polished concrete floors throughout, which gave the villa a real modern feel, and also cool touch from the heat. Good aircon in all rooms with nets for all the beds. Plenty of storage and a good base for a self catering holiday. Wood is supplied for the braai, but more can be easily be...
Read moreWe were robbed on the property during our stay. When we arrived we were explained that there are alarms around the property for safety. Whilst my family and I were on the property braaiân on the terrace. An intruder came into the villa and stole my bag with quite a large amount of money inside. During this time no alarm had went off and I had only realised the next morning when I found my bag outside with the money gone that we had been robbed. When speaking to the concierge she admitted that this has been an ongoing issue and only just a week before the same situation happened. When asked about the alarm she said that the sound had been disabled due to it being too loud for the neighbours. She did not inform us about their recent theft issues nor of the sound being disabled on the alarms. This is a clear indication that they are more concerned about brand image than their guest safety. As beautifully as the property is this had ruined the entire rest of our stay. We could not sleep at night being fearful of intruders and the alarm not working. I would also say for the amount that we paid for both villas itâs disheartening that safety and outdoor lighting isnât...
Read moreWe stayed in the Little Swift Villa for three nights and it was fabulous. The villa is brand new and the design, the interior and the thoughtful details are simply outstanding. Monika was a wonderful host making sure that we had everything we needed and giving us tons of recommendations for lovely restaurants and acitivites, even though we mostly spent our afternoons enjoying the private pool in the olive grove. This was by far the best experience we had during out trip through...
