I have just spent 3 nights at Galagos Lodge in the Platinum suite. First off, the staff are fantastic! Everyone greeted us with smiles from the time we arrived until we left. The Lodge's shared areas were spotless, covid protocols were followed to the T and I was not worried at all in that regard.
The room - it was clean, neat and tidy. Very spacious, the bed was super comfy, having our own private patio was a huge bonus. BUT - No storage or cupboard space, not even a table to put my suitcase on. No dustbin in the room, only the bathroom. The main room light did not work. The curtains were really difficult to close, proper brut force was necessary.
The bathroom - the Jet Bath was amazing!!! It was the reason I booked this room, and it was such a treat. A little difficult to figure the out the controls (A small instruction page would have been super useful) but once we did, it was really nice and relaxing. Unfortunately I tried to open the blinds when we arrived and the one blind fell off whilst opening it, so I left the other one closed, but would have liked to have been able to see the view from the tub. There is 1 small handrail for a hand towel, no other rails or hooks. Its a small detail that could easily be remedied by adding 2 simple cheap hooks to the wall? The shower is nice and spacious - but it has 2 settings, scorching hot or freezing cold, with about 45 seconds of "aah thats nice" so that when you have a head full of shampoo and the soap is in your eyes, voops, there goes all the hot water. So blindly you need to turn the water off and then start again and try find the sweet spot for the next 45 seconds.
I would like the owner to spend 3 nights in this room, just to know what their guests are paying for and what they are actually getting. Come and experience the frustration of having no other choice but to get in that shower in the morning, knowing you'll either burn or freeze (at least you can choose your torture), and the simple frustration of not having a towel rail to hang your towel on. Order takeout because the other options is a R295 three course meal that is offered to you without seeing a menu, at breakfast after you ask for a poached egg and no one knows what that is. And then have nothing but a plastic spoon to eat your meal with. And when you're done - you can't throw anything away, because there is no dustbin, unless you throw the left overs away in the bathroom. And then take a jet bath, but spend 10 mins trying to find the on button and figure out the water level.
All in all, it was a pleasant stay but I doubt...
Read moreWe have visited this establishment several times since initially enjoying our honeymoon there a few years ago. The service was always good until our most recent visit. We booked for a Sunday evening due to our limited availability, the hotel was very quiet and only saw one other visitor. After enjoying dinner at the Hotel, we went out to a local business, upon our return, we found that the entrance door had been locked from the inside and we could not enter. Hooting, shouting, calling, tried contacting all the numbers listed did not help and we could not find anybody to open for us whilst the rain was pouring down. After eventually entering the next morning, we slept in and forgot about the 10am check out. After our host, reminded us of this at 11am, we promptly packed and left. Upon calling the owner Yolande to inform her of the unfortunate situation, she was incredibly rude and kept telling us that we could have had the decency to ask for a late check out and how would they clean in time for new guests, not that there were any guests on the Monday morning. She told my wife "to calm down" as she couldn't hear her clearly. Not even an apology about being locked out. i was asked why didn't phone her as if we didn't think of that - her phone was off and the land line unanswered. Such rudeness was really unneccessary and uncalled for. Pathetic service...
Read moreWe arrived on Friday afternoon. On Saturday we went away and when we came back we wanted to shower, the water was called. The staff mentined to us it was load shedding but i can recongnise that we are using Gas heater but it was off. ||||Later in the day we went out and when we came back at night the lodge had no electricity, nobody told us anything. We waited for a staff member because the contact number we had was offline. Finally we spoke to the manager and she told us she is struggling to buy electricity because she is on prepaid. My question was simple, you should have let us know and provide some alternative. We could not find one another and she told me that i can leave, i did exactly that, Om Monday, when i check for my refund, she told me that she would not give it because my partner gave a bad review.||||It was unfortunate that we ended up there without checking reviews because if we checked them we could not have booked there. I was not the first one to leave amother the same...
