Impala Niezel Lodge: A Mixed Experience
We recently spent 7 nights at Impala Niezel Lodge, and while the staff's friendliness and people skills were noteworthy, our stay was marred by several disappointments.
The lodge's cleanliness was subpar, with a dirty braai area, dirty water trays in the fridge, and dust underneath beds and couches. The bedding wasn't changed throughout our stay, and we're unsure if it was fresh when we arrived. Utensils, plates, and cutlery were severely lacking, making meal times inconvenient.
The bedrooms had no curtains, compromising our privacy, and the cleaner didn't do a thorough job. The lodge's maintenance is also lacking, considering the price point. We expected more, but it felt like a backpacker's accommodation.
On the bright side, the location is excellent, close to many attractions. With some improvements, Impala Niezel Lodge has the potential to be a great place to stay. However, as it stands, the issues we experienced detracted from our overall...
Read moreThe place is advertised as Log Homes but we were given a Rondavel that resembled something out of the 60's. Ancient and rickety furniture. The sleeper couch was tattered and not even fit for a dog to sleep on. The shower was a trickle and not even a spray. The TV did not work. A premium price was paid and if we wanted this, we could have booked the back packers up the road. The owner was arrogant and unappologetic. All he said that this was "Africa" and it was an African Rondaval, suggesting that if it was Africa then we should be accepting of a lower standard. It was late and we had no where else to stay. We had to check out the next morning and found alternative accommodation at the Sabi River Sun. We did not get a refund for the other 2 nights. It is a...
Read moreWe experienced very kind and friendly staff. We stayed in the log homes and visited the Kruger National Park every day as day visitors. The log homes are located close by the Phabeni and Numbi Gates of the Kruger National Park. Even though we had a pleasant stay, the decor and furnishings are very outdated. The towels were hard, washed out and had a funny smell. The bedding had a damp smell and was also washed out. The kitchen appliances are also old and outdated. This place is best suited for tired travellers returning/travelling to the Kruger on a budget. I would advise to book at nearby located lodges for a more aesthetically pleasing stay (for the same price...
