Noma Nini Lodge — Hotel in Mbombela

We used this establishment for a 1 night stop over. Upon arrival we found that reception did not have record of our booking, we had booked through a booking agency and received a confirmation. Luckily I had the forethought to bring a copy of the confirmation with me. This also confirmed my 50% payment. Luckily there was space available so we were given 2 Rondavels as booked.||The rooms are very nice and clean. The linen was crisp and the beds well made. I started to notice some stupid oversights though. The fridge and the room fan shared the same electrical outlet, it was a single outlet so you could either have the fridge on or the fan on but not both. The provision of a double socket would have easily overcome this. Same thing in the kitchen with the cooker and the kettle. Also no 2 pin socket for shaver. I think the owners should stay in each room for a night so they could pick up these oversights. The cutlery in the kitchen was not complete as there were no forks and only one knife. This is basic room management 101.||Of the 2 rondavels we booked one had a very good shower fed from a geyser with strong pressure. The other room has a very poor shower utilising an instant hot water attachment that completely lost all water pressure - again simple issue but things were inconsistent.||This lodge is located near to a busy road where coal trucks run back and forth all night, this in itself is not a problem as there no great noise issue however the trucks have deteriorated the road surface to the extent that large potholes have appeared, so when a truck hits a pot hole it emits a sound like thunder when the trucks are empty. Had a horrible stay. Booked 2 units. When we walked in, one of the single beds in the unit had only 3 legs. I immediately went to reception, but they had locked up for the night. One of the ladies had to sleep in a certain position all night, so that she doesn't go over one end. Cobwebs littered the high walls of both places. Surfaces were dusty. Precipitation on the bathroom walls and doors, from the previous occupant, was visible. Dishes weren't washed. Room sleeps 4, but there are only 3 breakfast bowls. Cutlery was missing. Sand on bathtub rim. Door to one of the rooms doesn't close properly. Needed to be locked at all times. Cupboard broken... When I asked for the bed to be fixed, I was told that they'll fix it, but that never happened. Maintenance guy was unavailable to repair cupboard and door. They were aware of the broken stuff and still deliberately put us there. When I asked to see another room, same issues are in that...

I had the misfortune of staying over on the 6th of February and what a disappointment. The shower door was broken loose and just hanging half open, the toilet seat was loose, the actual toilet was loose on the floor, the cistern was loose. No toilet roll holder, no bulb in the bedside lamp, no teabags for tea and the fridge was in the middle of the floor so I could not even use the desk without moving furniture around. Definitely not a place I will stay at again, even though I will be visiting the area regularly...
