There are two reasons why I left this rating now. One is because I was in Cape Town, staying at a different lodge, and when I returned Google asked me to rate all the places I have been to and that included places from my previous trip i.e. Hajo’s. The second reason is that before my trip we tried to book at Hajo’s but received zero credit from our early departure before lockdown. My stay in February was supposed to be until 4 April but was cut short by almost a month due to my wife having an emergency C-Section. My college who was also staying there also had to leave early because of the lockdown. I understand your no-refund policy, but we regularly fly staff to Cape Town and have stayed with you on 2 or 3 occasions previously with the intention to keep Hajo’s as our regular accommodation. For Hajo’s to totally disregard us like this means we will take our business elsewhere. As for raising my concerns during my stay: this was repeatedly done verbally with no response and on 8 March I emailed the following complaints, also with no satisfactory response: I had asked for breakfast packs this weekend as both of us will be working weekends but this morning there was no breakfast pack. I tried calling but no one answered the phone. We paid in full with breakfast included and this is unacceptable. This is not the first time we were not given breakfast packs. Other issues we face include: • Breakfast packs inconsistently provided. There were many times when we got no breakfast packs in the first two weeks. • Breakfast packs left next to the fridge overnight instead of inside the fridge. • Breakfast packs provided sometimes with a spoon (no knife and fork) and sometimes with no cutlery. No salt provided. • Breakfast packs which had a juice and a yogurt now come without juice and yogurt. • Towels and washrags taken from room and only replaced the following day. • Chocolates left on bed very inconsistently and not daily. • I have reported an issue with my shower where the water does not come out of the shower head properly but pours out in leaks instead of a spray- nothing has been done to fix this. • My room (room 2) is extremely bright at night and I have difficulty sleeping because of this. Light shines through the gap in the top of the curtains and lights up...

The staff and Hajo were all so personable and attentive and the rooms themselves were clean and comfortable! We also did Hajo’s township tour which was thought provoking and included tours of some of the homes of friends Hajo has made in the last 20 years living and working with the townships. The highlight of which was definitely lunch at Maria’s. The neighborhood is safe and walkable (at least during the day) and right next to the paddocks mall which has a grocery store and some food venues as well which is super convenient. It’s a short 20-40 min Uber (generally around 150-250 Rand) into any part of Cape...
