Flamingo Holiday Apartments — Hotel in Mtubatuba Local Municipality

This place, especially unit 10 when booked on the 05/10/2024, was such an unpleasant experience. we had other group bookings at the Bridge opposite this place where some of the group members had such a great experience, there was no R1000 fine for visiting each other at the bridge. At Flamingo holiday flats we did not receive our refund as the lady at reception insisted we take the lady waiting for her boyfriend to a garage or restaurant to wait there while there were 3 other colleagues checking in. When asked as a Woman would she be comfortable to be at a Fuel station alone in a town she has never been to before, she fails to answer and print papers and claim that there are rules.

At 2pm during the day, where you are not staying over, just to sit on the couch and wait with paying guests is illegal for her.

She even took it as far as sending someone to go check the number of guests early morning, and when she found there was no breach of rules, only the guests we told her would sleep there, were indeed there, she goes back to the night before and claims there was a breach when the lady came inside to occupy the couch.

Driving all the way from Johannesburg to meet such a rude old lady came as a shock to us and upon checkout she pressed panic buttons to get security at premises as she refused to return the refundable deposit as she claims the lady waiting on the property(not sleeping over) was a breach of rules thus she has fined us R1000. There was too much drama and unable to logically explain her decision to call security who came in expecting to see her being attacked or Robbed, they found us at reception asking for our refunds, with no guns or weapons pointed at the lady at the front desk. But if it matters, yes there were 4 black humans at reception asking for the refund and one white lady thinking her life is at risk.

She then claimed security will be her witness, after ALPHA security witnessed this argument for 30mins, still no refund was paid over. easier to do this 600km away than to do it straight to our faces.

Security arrived and did not agree to such methods but upon our return to Gauteng, the bridge returned deposits and Flamingo did not, i was told they will be no refund.

however to get us off the property we were told to leave our banking details and the refund would be EFT as we paid via EFT.

The lady at the help desk also said she is the manager, she does as she wants, the unit owners are not reachable on weekends.

In summary if you are used to hospitable places, i would stay away. Right across is the bridge apartments where we had the totally opposite experience. the Hosts were so welcoming and knew how to...

Good day, I have always booking at flamingo but this time around i had a horrible experience. I have always been travelling with my kids. We arrived after they had closed. I had initially booked for a two bedroom apartment but later on had my sisters kids join us. So we had 2 adults and 4 kids oldest being 11 and youngest being 4. We booked it and later had an old lady( not sure of her name) coming to the room with a very bad attitude saying the kids were making noice on the stairs outside as they were bringing the bags. She also mentioned i needed to pay for the extra kids. I said no problem and we headed to her office. I paid for the kids and asked for a bigger apartment. She moved us to another apartment on the street behind. We went to swim till about 7:30 in the eving and later on started braing till about 9. The all time the kids were outside. We later on came in the house and went to sleep as the girls were sleeping already from outside. We woke up in the morning and i got the younger kids as they were sleeping in the bedroom close to us. We then decided to go to the shops to buy something at 9:30. We then got a message from the lady same lady saying we must hand in the keys urgently as someone else will be checking in. We then asked what time check out time is and she mentioned 10oclock. We then said it is 9:30 why you rushing us out? We then just went to hand back the keys.

Two days after checking out, the lady sent a message to say my kids tore the curtins in one of the bedroom and lounge. She she showed me a very torn curtain les. I told her impossible. The kids that slept in the room she mentioned had a torn curtain was the 4 year old and 7 and they slept while we were outside. I also mentioned my husband open the door in the lounge and no torn curtain. And i told her my kids would have mentioned to me if they did something like that. She continued to write me messages saying my kids are not disciplined and she was disgusted and that she kept watching us on cameras and in the apartment aswell. She kept writting me messages being very unprofessional and i asked her why i was only told on tuesday about curtains and why no photos were taken on sunday. She said they had no [link removed] they kept my deposit. She was very personaland i later on realised that she hates kids and she kept attacking the kids. I have all this on my phone. I will never book into flamingo again. That woman has no respect or professionalism. She hates kids yet the place is kids friendly. She decided to keep my deposit for something i know did not happen. We were looking forward to our holiday for many months, but sadly we ended up at this venue. Not only did we have to leave after 2 days because we couldn't endure staying longer, the staff refused to refund our payment for the duration we were not going to be staying there. The owners also refused to even speak to us about our problem.

The main problem is that you're unlikely to get any sleep, since loud noise and music is allowed. They'll say it isn't, but just try to get them to enforce it...they don't! Even when the music is off, the people talk and shout at each other right next to your bedroom! We couldn't sleep either of the nights we spent there. We phoned the after hours number, the security number (who didn't know where the venue was), and the police. All multiple times. After the first night we spoke to the staff, but the second night was just as bad, and it was a different set of guests.

What makes it worse is that the staff told us it's a typical problem with their guests of a certain skin color...I felt that comment unnecessary, and our problem was not initially even caused by their favorite accused anyway!

Additionally the TV signal is terrible, the curtains are damaged, the BBQ is dilapidated and if you want air conditioning be prepared to pay R 50 extra per day (and hope the aircon actually works, cause you won't get your...
